As a deliberate choice to give that worker the same amount

As a punishment because the first worker complained

As a request for the first worker's permission

As a correction because the first worker was paid too much

Accept what you were given and trust the giver's freedom to be generous

Assume you were treated unfairly and press for more right away

Keep score quietly so you can judge whether you were valued enough

Celebrate only if you received more than they did

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned, compared myself with others, and tried to earn what only your grace can give. I turn from my sin and trust that you died for me and rose again. Forgive me, make me new, and be my Lord and Savior. Teach me to rest in your grace and to rejoice when you are generous to others. Receive Me by Your Grace

Father, revive your Church where we have become competitive, suspicious, or bitter when you bless another person. Free us from comparison, make us glad in your freedom, and teach us to honor your wisdom together, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Make Your Church Glad in Your Generosity

Father, thank you for the portion you have already given me and for the wisdom of your gifts. Thank you that your kindness is not measured by human rank. Help me receive what is mine with gratitude and peace, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Thank You for What You Have Given

Lord, grow in me a heart that does not need to compare itself with others. When I am tempted to measure my worth by what someone else gets, steady me with trust, contentment, and joy in your care, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Grow Me in Contentment

Pray for: workers, employees, and families who feel overlooked; people who resent when others are blessed; leaders who must give fairly and wisely; a church that rejoices when God gives generously to another person.

Pray for Those Caught in Comparison

Name the moment you feel resentful, thank God for what you have received, and ask him for a contented heart that can rejoice when he gives another person the same grace.
