They had already finished the work earlier

Keep waiting in the same spot until someone insists again

Assume being present is enough even if nothing useful gets done

Treat the warning as a reason to delay until a better time

Begin the work that is waiting instead of remaining inactive

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned and lived apart from your purpose. I turn from my sin and from wasting the life you have given me. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. Forgive me, make me new, and be my Lord and Savior. Lead me into the life you want for me. Amen.

From Idleness to New Life

Lord, wake your Church from every kind of spiritual idleness. Where we have stood around instead of serving, call us forward again. Stir diligence, humility, and readiness in us, and make us faithful with the work you place before us, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Pray by naming one area where you have been inactive or delayed, ask God to show you the next faithful step, and ask for courage to begin it today.

Thank God that he sees hidden inactivity, notices wasted hours, and still speaks with mercy before the day is gone. Thank him that his attention can wake a person up.

Thank You for Noticing

Pray for someone who feels unproductive, distracted, or stuck in place, that God would awaken them, give them honest courage, and open a fresh beginning for useful service.

For Someone Who Feels Stuck

Bring these to God: a willingness to stop drifting, a desire to use time well, and a request for steady obedience when he calls.
