Receive the truth and turn from what needs changing

Shut the messenger out so the message cannot reach you

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned and gone my own way. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sin and trust you as my Lord and Savior. Though people rejected you, I want to welcome you into my life. Forgive me, make me new, and lead me in your way. Amen.

Receive the One They Rejected

Lord, revive your church where we have resisted your voice, silenced what convicts us, or turned away from your Son. Give us humble hearts that receive truth, honor Jesus gladly, and bear his witness with courage and love. Make us faithful when your word challenges us, and alive to your call, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Make Your Church Welcome Your Word

Pray by naming one hard truth you have been avoiding, confessing where you have pushed it away, and asking God for a willing heart to hear and obey him today.

Pray Over What You Have Resisted

Bring to God any habit of defending yourself too quickly, ignoring correction, or preferring comfort over obedience. Ask him to soften you, make you teachable, and keep your heart open to his voice.

A Teachable Heart

Pray for believers who speak truth in hard places: for courage, wisdom, and safety; for gentle words when they are resisted; and for peace instead of violence where they are unwelcome.

For Those Who Speak Hard Truth

Thank God that Jesus did not turn away from rejection and death, but carried out the Father's will for us. Thank him that his faithful love reaches people who have pushed him aside. Ask for a thankful, responsive heart.
