Give the nearby person the same care you want for yourself

Show only casual kindness and keep your deeper concern for yourself

Wait to care until that person proves worthy of it

Reserve your best concern for friends who are already close

The verse says it is similar to another command

Love should be given only to people who already return it

The measure is the care you already give yourself

Give another person the kind of care you would want yourself

Help only when it is convenient and costs you little

Care so that people will notice your generosity

Limit concern to people who already feel like family

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I confess that I have sinned and have not loved God or my neighbor as I should. I need your forgiveness and mercy. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sin and trust you as my Lord and Savior. Teach me to live in your love and to love others as you command. Amen.

Receive Christ's Love

Lord, revive your Church so we love the people near us with sincerity, humility, and courage. Forgive our self-protection, indifference, and selective concern. Make us attentive to the needs right beside us and willing to serve with the same care we want for ourselves, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Revive Your Church in Neighbor-Love

Thank God for the people he places close to you each day, for the chance to practice love in ordinary places, and for showing that faithfulness is not only grand but also near at hand.

Thank You for the People Near Me

Name one person you often overlook. Ask God to help you see that person as someone near to you, to awaken compassion, and to show you one simple act of care to offer today.

Pray for a Neighborly Heart

Pray for: a difficult neighbor, coworker, classmate, or family member; patience before you react; and grace to treat them with the care you would want if you were in their place.

For Those I Find Hard to Love

Father, shape my heart so that the care I give myself becomes a measure for how I treat others. Free me from selfishness and coldness, and make me quick to notice, quick to listen, and quick to love the people around me, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
