They stopped daring to question him further

They kept pressing him with harder questions

Admit the truth and stop arguing for the moment

Keep pressing the point until you win the discussion

Change the subject and hope the conviction passes

Stay outwardly polite while resisting inwardly

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned, defended myself, and resisted your truth. I need your mercy and your saving grace. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sin and trust you as my Lord. Come into my life, forgive me, and lead me in your way. Amen.

Receive the Lord Jesus

Lord, revive your Church with a fresh reverence for Jesus. Where we have argued instead of listened, make us teachable; where we have been proud, make us humble; where we have been careless, make us alert to your truth. Let your people honor your Son with honest hearts and obedient lives, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Make Your People Humble Before You

Father, forgive us for the pride that keeps us arguing when you have spoken clearly. We confess that we often resist correction and choose our own words over your wisdom. Give us repentant hearts that listen quickly and obey gladly, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Forgive Our Resistance

Pray by naming the place where you feel defensive, admitting it to God without excuses, and asking for the courage to stop arguing and listen well.

Pray When Jesus Confronts You

Pray for people who are still resisting Jesus' words; for humility to replace stubbornness; for honest questions that lead to faith instead of escape.

For Those Who Keep Debating Jesus

Lord, thank you that Jesus speaks with truth that cannot be overruled. Thank you that his authority is stronger than confusion, fear, and every empty argument. Teach me to trust his word and rest in it, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
