Wait until the moment is obvious before responding

The disciples are told to recognize his nearness

His coming is pictured as being right at the threshold

Living alert and faithful instead of drifting

Keeping busy with predictions about the date

Delaying obedience until more proof arrives

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned and need your mercy. I turn from my sin and open my life to you. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I confess you as Lord and ask you to draw near to me and lead me in your truth. Thank you for saving me. Amen.

Come Near to Me

Lord, awaken your Church to live as if you are truly near. Forgive our distraction, our delay, and our love of speculation over obedience. Make us watchful, faithful, and full of hope, so our lives point people to your coming. Revive us for your glory, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Wake Your People Up

Father, thank you that your Son is not distant. Thank you that you call us to recognize his nearness and live with hope instead of fear. Teach me to welcome your presence and trust your timing, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Thank You for Your Nearness

Name the signs, pressures, or changes that are confusing you. Ask God for clear eyes to notice what matters, a steady heart to trust him, and wisdom to stay ready without panic.

Ask for Discernment

Pray for people who are asleep to spiritual realities, for those chasing certainty in the wrong places, and for the patience to speak hope and truth with love.

For People Who Are Unaware

Lord, keep me from drifting, delaying, or distracting myself from your coming. Teach me to live faithfully in ordinary things, to obey you today, and to be ready when you appear, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Ready at the Gate
