Someone asks you for help, and someone wants to borrow from you

Someone is grieving, and someone is angry

Someone praises you, and someone criticizes you

Respond with practical help as you are able, and do not shut the person out

Wait until helping feels cheap and safe for you

Step back so you do not have to deal with the request

Offer only advice and leave the need unmet

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned and that I need your mercy. I turn from selfishness and from refusing the love and help you call me to give. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I confess you as Lord and ask you to lead my life. Make me new and teach me to live in your generosity. Amen.

Receive the Generous Lord

Lord, revive your Church so we do not turn away from people in need. Make us quick to help, ready to share, and free from fear that clings to what we have. Awaken in us the generosity of your kingdom, so our lives answer real needs with love, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Open-Handed Church

Father, thank you for every gift, resource, and opportunity you place in our hands. Help us see your provision as something to share wisely and gladly, and teach us to trust you when others ask us for help, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Thank You for What You Entrust to Us

Lord, when someone asks me for help or a loan, keep me from cold hesitation and guardedness. Give me wisdom, courage, and a willing spirit so I can respond with kindness and integrity, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

A Ready Heart to Help

Pray for: people who are carrying urgent needs today; believers who have resources to share; wisdom to help in ways that are loving and responsible; relief for anyone burdened by lack or debt.

For Those Who Need Help

Pray by naming one place where you tend to hold back, asking God to soften fear and scarcity, and then asking him for one specific act of generosity you can take this week.
