Trying to fix another person's small fault while ignoring a much larger fault in yourself

Refusing to care about a brother's problem at all

Focusing only on faults that are easy for everyone to see

Treating someone else's small fault as more serious than your own larger one

Look honestly at your own larger fault first

Speak up quickly so the smaller issue does not spread

Wait until you never have any fault of your own

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned, and I have often been quick to notice faults in others while missing my own. I need your mercy and your cleansing. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sin and receive you as my Lord and Savior. Make me humble, honest, and new. Amen.

A Humble Heart Before Jesus

Lord, revive your church where we have become quick to judge and slow to look within. Open our eyes to our own need, soften our hearts toward one another, and make us gentle, truthful, and ready to repent. Let your people be known for humility and mercy, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Revive Us from Pride

Father, I confess that I often look for small faults in others while overlooking larger faults in myself. Forgive me, expose what I cannot see, and teach me to welcome your correction before I speak to anyone else, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Show Me My Own Blind Spots

Begin by naming the person and the issue; then ask God to show you what is happening in your own heart. Ask for humility, the right timing, and words that help rather than wound.

Pray Before You Correct

Pray for the person you are tempted to correct, that God would give you compassion for them, and that your words would lead to healing instead of shame.

Mercy for a Brother

Thank God that he does not leave you blind to your own faults, but gently shows what needs to change. Give thanks for correction that leads to mercy, growth, and a more humble walk with Jesus.
