Speak kindly about outsiders while staying safely apart from them

Wait until people seem respectable before offering welcome

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned and that my heart has often been proud and judgmental. I turn from my sin and from trusting my own goodness. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I confess you as Lord and ask you to forgive me, welcome me, and lead me into your mercy. Amen.

Come to Jesus in Mercy

Lord, revive your Church so we do not act like the Pharisees, quick to judge and slow to welcome. Give us the heart of Jesus for people others avoid, and make our tables, conversations, and communities places of grace. Wake us up from self-righteousness and teach us to see people with your compassion, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Renew Your Church in Mercy

Father, forgive me for the times I have judged people by reputation, background, or the company they keep. Cleanse my heart from pride and teach me to see others with humility and mercy. Help me turn from distance and suspicion toward love, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Forgive My Quick Judgments

Pray by naming one person or group you tend to keep at a distance, asking God to show you their dignity, and asking for one practical step that would make room for them this week.

Pray for a Wider Table

Pray for: people who feel judged or unwelcome; courage for believers to move toward them with kindness; meals, friendships, and conversations that become places of grace.

For Those Treated as Outsiders

Thank God for: Jesus' willingness to sit with people others rejected; any moments when you have seen mercy overcome prejudice; opportunities to welcome someone who is usually kept at the edge.

Grateful for Jesus' Open Table
