Numbers 5:19:1וְהִשְׁבִּ֨יעַvehishbiaand shall cause to swear
Numbers 5:19:2אֹתָ֜הּotahher Numbers 5:19:3הַכֹּהֵ֗ןhakohenthe priest Numbers 5:19:4וְאָמַ֤רveamarand shall say Numbers 5:19:5אֶל־הָֽאִשָּׁה֙elhaishato the woman Numbers 5:19:6אִם־לֹ֨אimloif not Numbers 5:19:7שָׁכַ֥בshakhavhas lain Numbers 5:19:8אִישׁ֙isha man Numbers 5:19:9אֹתָ֔ךְotakhwith you Numbers 5:19:10וְאִם־לֹ֥אveimloand if not Numbers 5:19:11שָׂטִ֛יתsatityou have strayed Numbers 5:19:12טֻמְאָ֖הtumahto impurity Numbers 5:19:13תַּ֣חַתtakhatunder Numbers 5:19:14אִישֵׁ֑ךְishekhyour husband Numbers 5:19:15הִנָּקִ֕יhinakibe clear Numbers 5:19:16מִמֵּ֛יmimeifrom the water Numbers 5:19:17הַמָּרִ֥יםhamarimof bitterness Numbers 5:19:18הַֽמְאָרֲרִ֖יםhamaararimthat cause the curse Numbers 5:19:19הָאֵֽלֶּה׃haelethese
19. Formal Translation
Then the priest shall make her take an oath and shall say to the woman, “If no man has lain with you, and if you have not gone astray with impurity under your husband, be cleared from these bitter waters that cause the curse.”
19. Dynamic Translation
The priest will require the woman to swear an oath and say to her, “If you have not slept with another man, and if you have not gone astray and become impure while married to your husband, then you will be free from the effects of these bitter, curse-bringing waters.”
