Psalms 22:5ExegesisTAB

Psalm 22 : 5 Trust | Deliverance | Confidence
5. Linguistic Exegesis
The verse features chiastic parallelism with the initial appeal eleikha {אֵלֶיךָ | ’ē-lê-kā} ‘to You’ framing the structure. The verbs za’aku {זָעֲקוּ | zā’ă-qû} and we-nimlatu {וְנִמְלָּטוּ | wə-nimlā-ṭû} establish an action-response pattern of crying out followed by deliverance. This is mirrored in bekha {בְּךָ | bə-kā} ‘in You’ and batchu {בָּטְחוּ | bā-ṭ-ḥû} ‘they trusted’, concluding with we-lo boshu {וְלֹא־בּוֹשׁוּ | wə-lō bō-šû} ‘and were not ashamed’. The use of Qal perfects alongside a Niphal perfect conveys completed historical actions, and the chiasm underscores full reliance on the divine rescuer.
