1 And these were the sons of David who were born to him in Hebron: the firstborn was Amnon by Ahinoam the Jezreelite {Yizre'elit: woman of Jezreel}; the second was Daniel by Abigail the Carmelite {Karmelit: woman of Carmel}.
2 The third was Absalom{avshalom: father of peace}, son of Maakah{maakah: oppression} the daughter of Talmai, king of Geshur; the fourth was Adonijah, son of Haggith.
3 The fifth: Shephatiah, by Abital {avital: named mother}; the sixth: Yitream, by Eglah, his wife {ishto: his spouse}.
4 Six were born to him in Hebron {hevron: ancestral fortress}, and he reigned there seven years and six months {chodashim: lunar periods}. And in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three years.
5 And these were born to him in Jerusalem {yerushalayim: royal city}: Shimea, Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon—four by Bath-shua {bat-shua: David’s wife}, daughter of Ammiel.
6 And Ibhar {yivchar: he will choose}, and Elishama {elishama: God-heard}, and Eliphelet.
7 And Nogah {Nogah: brightness}, and Nepheg, and Yaphia {Yaphia: shining forth}.
8 And Elishama {Elishama: God-heard}, and Eliada, and Eliphelet—nine {tishah: total count} in all.
9 All the sons of David {Dāvid: royal ancestor} apart from {mîl-bāḏ: excluding from the list} the sons of the concubines, and Tamar was their sister.
10 The son of Solomon {shlomo: his name signifies peace} was Rehoboam; Abijah was his son {ben: direct male descendant}, then Asa his son, and Jehoshaphat his son.
11 Yoram, his son {ben: descendant, heir}; Achazyahu {achazyahu: Yah has supported}, his son; Yoash, his son.
12 Amaziah {amatsyahu: Judah ruler}, his son {beno: genealogical link}; Azariah, his son; Jotham, his son.
13 Ahaz {ahaz: king of Judah} his son {beno: direct male descendant}, Hezekiah his son, Manasseh his son.
14 Amon {Amon: Manasseh’s son}, his son; Josiah {Yoshiyahu: Amon’s son}, his son.
15 And the sons of Josiah {Yoshiyahu: Yahweh Supports} were: the firstborn Johanan {Yochanan: Yahweh Is Gracious}, the second Jehoiakim, the third Zedekiah, and the fourth Shallum.
16 And the sons {uvenei: lineal descendants} of Jehoiakim were Jeconiah his son {ben: direct descendant}, and Zedekiah his son.
17 And the sons of Jeconiah {yekhonyah: Royal Descendant} were Assir {assir: taken into captivity} and Shealtiel his son.
18 And Malkiram {malkiram: king exalted}, and Pedaiah, and Shenazzar, Jekamiah {yekamyah: Yahweh establishes}, Hoshama, and Nedabiah.
19 And the sons of Pedaiah were Zerubbabel {Zerubbabel: Sown in Babylon} and Shimei; and the sons of Zerubbabel were Meshullam and Hananiah. Their sister {achotam: female sibling} was Shelomith.
20 And Hashuvah, and Ohel, and Berekiah, and Hasadiah, Jushab-Hesed {yushav chesed: dwells in loyalty}—five {khamesh: total count}.
21 And the sons {ben: principal heir} of Hananiah were Pelatiah {pelatyah: deliverance} and Jeshaiah; and the descendants of Jeshaiah were Rephaiah, Arnan, Obadiah, and Shekaniah.
22 The sons{benei: male descendants} of Shekhaniah: Shemaiah. And the sons of Shemaiah: Hattush, Yigaal, Bariah, Neariah, and Shaphat—six{shishah: total count} in all.
23 The sons of Neariah {ne‘aryah: servant of YHWH} were Elioenai, Hizkiah, and Azrikam—three in all {sheloshah: indicating completeness}.
24 The sons {benei: male descendants} of Elioenai were Hodavyahu, Eliashib, Pelaiah, Akkub, Johanan, Delaiah, and Anani, seven {shiv'ah: completeness of this generation} in all.
