40 The sons of Shobal {shoval: lineage chief} were Alian, Manahath, Ebal, Shephi, and Onam. And the sons of Zibeon were Aiah {aiyah: bird of prey} and Anah.

43 And these are the kings {melakhim: royal rulers} who reigned in the land of Edom before a king reigned for the sons of Israel; Bela son of Beor, and the name {shem: personal designation} of his city was Dinhabah.
44 And Bela {Bala: Edomite ancestor} died, and Jobab son of Zerah from Bozrah reigned in his place {takhtav: position of succession}.
45 And Jobab died, and Husham from the land of the Temanite {ha-Teimani: Edomite clan} reigned in his place {takhtav: succession order}.
46 And Husham died, and Hadad son of Bedad, hamakkeh {hamakkeh: military champion} of Midian in the field of Moab, reigned in his place; and the name of his city was Avith {Avith: dynastic seat}.
47 Hadad died, and Samlah from Masrekah {mimasrekah: Edomite city} reigned in his place {takhtav: succeeded as king}.
48 And when Samlah died {vayamat: process of cessation}, Shaul from Rechovot by the River reigned in his place {takhatav: place of succession}.
49 And Saul died {vayamat: ended his life}, and Baal-Hanan son of Akbor reigned in his place {vayimlokh: assumed royal authority}.
50 And Baal-Hanan died, and Hadad reigned in his place. The name of his city was Pai, and the name of his wife was Mehetabel {meheitavel: God makes good}, daughter of Matred {matred: hunter}, daughter of Mei-Zahav.
