They claim Jesus is under a demon’s power.

They ask why people are listening to him.

They say his teaching has convinced everyone.

Keep listening to Jesus and test the claims against his words.

Go with the view that has the most people behind it.

Wait until the criticism disappears before paying attention.

Repeat the accusation until it feels settled.

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have listened to the wrong voices and sinned against you. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sin and from unbelief, and I open my life to you. Forgive me, lead me, and be my Lord. Even when others reject you, I choose to trust you. Amen.

Receive the One Others Rejected

Lord, revive your Church so we do not echo the contempt around us. Free us from borrowed opinions, sharpen our ears for Jesus, and give us humble hearts that trust him when others mock him. Wake us from apathy and make us faithful listeners and witnesses, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Give Your Church a Clear Hearing

Father, forgive me for the times I have joined in careless speech about Jesus or followed the crowd instead of his voice. Cleanse my heart, turn me back to reverence, and teach me to honor him with my words and choices. Help me listen to him with faith, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Begin by naming the voices that are shaping your view of Jesus. Ask God to strip away confusion, give you a sober mind, and help you hear Christ clearly in Scripture and prayer.

Ask for Discernment When Voices Clash

Pray for people who dismiss Jesus as deceived, irrelevant, or hard to take seriously; for humility before they judge what they do not understand; and for open hearts to hear his words honestly.

Thank God that Jesus is not ruled by public opinion, that his truth stands firm under criticism, and that you can still listen to him with confidence.
