Jesus saw the Jews who had come with her crying

Move toward them with quiet, compassionate presence

Wait until you can explain the loss before staying with them

Keep your distance so you do not become affected

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I come to you with my sorrow and my sin. I admit that I have gone my own way and cannot save myself. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sin and trust you as my Lord and Savior. Please enter my life, hold me in your mercy, and lead me with your compassion. Amen.

Come to the Compassionate Lord

Lord, awaken your Church with the compassion of Jesus. Where we have become numb to tears, make us tender; where we have stayed distant from pain, draw us near; where we have rushed past the grieving, teach us to stay and weep with them. Revive us to carry the heart of Christ to a hurting world, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Revive Your Church in Compassion

Father, meet me in the sorrow I carry and do not let me be alone in it. When tears come, let your presence steady me; when my heart feels shaken, hold me close; when I cannot find words, let your peace rest on me, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Meet Me in This Grief

Bring before God: someone whose tears you have seen, people who are carrying hidden grief, and the grace to stay near them with patience, listening, and care.

For the Grieving

Pray by naming one place where other people's pain has become easy to ignore, ask Jesus to make your heart responsive again, and invite him to teach you how to be present instead of distant.

A Tender Heart

Give thanks that Jesus sees tears, is moved by sorrow, and is not cold toward human pain. Thank God that his closeness means your grief is seen and your sorrow matters.

Thanks for a Savior Who Notices
