So his own joy would settle in them, and their joy would reach completion

So they would face no hardship after hearing him

So they would have material for later teaching

So they would know he had finished speaking

They understand every detail of the future

Keep returning to Jesus' words and let them shape your joy

Treat Jesus' words as helpful, but rely mostly on circumstances for joy

Use Jesus' words mainly as information for discussion

Wait for life to get easier before taking joy seriously

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned and tried to fill my life apart from you. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sin and open my heart to you. Be my Lord and Savior, and let your life and joy dwell in me. Amen.

Receive the Joy-Giving Lord

Lord, revive your people where faith has grown dull and heavy. Let your words sink deep among us, and let the joy that comes from you live in your Church again. Make us a people marked by gladness, hope, and steady trust, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Renew the Joy of Your Church

Bring these to God: gratitude that Jesus speaks with a joy-giving purpose; thanks that his words are not empty; praise that he wants joy to become complete; thanksgiving for teaching that gives life.

Pray by naming one place where your joy feels thin, ask Jesus to let his words take root there, then ask for one simple practice that will help you remember his promise today.

Ask for Joy to Take Root

Pray for: a weary believer whose joy feels drained; that Jesus' words would steady and renew them; that you would know how to encourage them well; that hope would return where discouragement has lingered.

Joy for Someone Weary

Father, when my heart feels scattered or weary, draw me back to the words of Jesus. Let his joy settle in me, and bring my joy to completion. Teach me to receive his voice with trust and to live from that joy today, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
