| 9. Formal Translation And the man rose up to go—he, his concubine, and his servant. But his father-in-law, the father of the girl, said to him, “Behold, please, the day has grown slack toward evening. Please spend the night; behold, the day is ending. Stay here and it will be well with your heart. In the morning you shall rise early for your journey, and you may go to your tent.” |
| 9. Dynamic Translation The man got up to leave with his concubine and servant, but his father-in-law, the young woman’s father, said, “Look, it is getting late—the evening is near. Stay here for the night and relax. Tomorrow morning you can rise early, set out on your journey, and go to your tent.” |
