| 12. Formal Translation But I say to you: Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him; rather, they treated him as they chose. Likewise, the Son of Man will also suffer at their hands. |
| 12. Dynamic Translation I am telling you that Elijah has already come, but they did not recognize him and instead did to him whatever they wanted. In the same way, the Son of Man is going to suffer because of them. |
