Prayer and fasting are named together as the needed response

The problem is solved by instruction alone

The verse says the kind leaves without any struggle

Bring the matter to God with prayer and fasting

Rely on stronger words and assume that is enough

Wait passively and hope the struggle disappears

Treat prayer as optional unless everything else fails

Lord, revive your church where we have become self-reliant. Teach us again to seek you with prayer and fasting, and meet us with humble faith when we face what we cannot solve ourselves. Awaken us to trust your power more than our methods, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Renew Your Church in Prayer and Fasting

Lord, train my heart to depend on you more than on quick answers or my own strength. Give me a steady life of prayer, a willing spirit for fasting, and the humility to seek you first when I face resistance, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Teach Me Dependence

Name the hard situation before God, ask him for mercy and power, set aside focused time to pray without hurry, and if appropriate choose a meal or a day to fast while you keep the matter before him.

How to Pray Through a Stubborn Burden

Pray for someone you know who is facing a stubborn spiritual struggle; ask God to strengthen them in prayer and wise fasting; ask for humility, perseverance, and clear dependence on his help.
