Le verset débute par légontes {λέγοντες | légontes} ‘disant’, participe circonstantiel introduisant le discours direct. Ándres {Ἄνδρες | Ándres} ‘Hommes’ interrompt la narration pour interpeller les auditeurs, suivi de tí taûta poieíte {τί ταῦτα ποιεῖτε | tí taûta poieíte} ‘pourquoi faites-vous ces choses ?’, où tí fonctionne comme pronom interrogatif.
