| 3. Formal Translation And as for the people who were in it, he brought them out and assigned them to work with saws, and with sharp tools of iron, and with axes. Thus David did to all the cities of the sons of Ammon. Then David and all the people returned to Jerusalem. |
| 3. Dynamic Translation David took out the people who were there and put them to work with saws, iron tools, and axes. He did the same to every Ammonite town. Then David and his entire army returned to Jerusalem. |
