Formal Translation And the Spirit of God {Elohim, Divine Empowerer} clothed Zechariah son of Jehoiada the priest, and he stood above the people and said to them, "Thus says God {Elohim, Divine Speaker}: Why are you transgressing the commands of the LORD {Yahweh, Covenant Judge}? You will not prosper because you have forsaken the LORD, and He will forsake you." |
| 20. Dynamic Translation Then the Spirit of God {Elohim, Divine Inspirer} clothed Zechariah, the son of Jehoiada the priest. He stood before the people and announced, "This is what God {Elohim, Divine Speaker} says: Why do you break the LORD's {Yahweh, Faithful Defender} commands? You will not succeed. Since you have abandoned the LORD, He will abandon you." |
