Receive the Lord of Truth

Lord, revive your Church where we have learned to sound certain but not to listen. Deliver us from contempt, pride, and quick judgments. Make us a people who speak truth with humility, honor others, and listen before we answer, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Revive Humble Speech in the Church

Father, forgive me for the times I have spoken too quickly, leaned on status, or dismissed people I should have heard. Expose the pride that makes me act like I already know enough. Give me a teachable heart and gentle words, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Forgive My Prideful Certainty

Pray by naming one conversation where you need more listening than speaking. Ask God to show you the question you should ask first, to calm your tone, and to help you resist the urge to sound superior.

Pray Before You Answer

Lord, I pray for pastors, teachers, parents, and all who lead others: keep them from using their voice like a weapon. Give them wisdom to listen well, courage to speak truth, and humility to correct without contempt, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Leaders Who Listen First

Thank God that he does not leave proud words unchallenged. Give thanks for correction, for people who tell the truth plainly, and for every mercy that teaches you to listen better.
