He moved him aside and pushed back against what had been said

He agreed that what had been said was right

He stayed back and let the statement pass

He changed the subject and spoke about something else

Bring your concern honestly, but let Jesus lead

Try to steer Jesus toward the easier path

Treat your discomfort as a signal to resist

Keep your concern hidden so it never shapes you

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have resisted your way and tried to follow my own plans. I confess my sin and my need for your mercy. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sin and receive you as my Lord and Savior. Lead me in your truth and save me by your grace. Amen.

Surrender to Jesus

Lord, revive your Church where we have corrected your wisdom and resisted your way. Forgive our pride, soften our hearts, and make us quick to trust you even when obedience is costly. Teach us to follow instead of pushing back, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Wake Your Church to Trust Your Way

Father, when I want to pull Jesus aside and argue with your path, give me humility. Quiet my fear, correct my assumptions, and help me submit to your wisdom even when it is hard, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Grace to Stop Resisting

Start by naming one place where you are resisting God's way. Tell him the fear or desire underneath it, ask for a teachable heart, and ask for one obedient step you can take today.

Pray Through Your Resistance

Give thanks for Jesus' patient leadership, for his steady commitment to the Father's will, and for the mercy that keeps calling us back when we resist him.

Pray for: a believer who is frightened by hardship; a church that prefers comfort over obedience; courage to trust Jesus when the path is hard.
