1 How long, O LORD {YHWH, Patient Covenant Hearer}, will You forget me—will it be forever {netzach: enduring duration}? How long will You hide Your face from me?
2 How long must I keep setting counsels in my soul {nefesh: life essence}, with sorrow {yagon: crushing grief} filling my heart all the day? How long will my enemy remain lifted up over me?
3 Turn your gaze toward me and answer me, LORD my God {YHWH Elohai, Personal Deliverer}. Make my eyes {einai: restored sight} shine, so that I do not sleep in death.
4 Otherwise my enemy will say, “I have prevailed {yekhaltiw: complete victory} over him,” and my adversaries will rejoice when I am shaken {emot: unsteady stumbling}.
5 But I have trusted in Your {YHWH, Steadfast Guardian} steadfast love; my heart will exult in Your salvation {yeshuah: covenant deliverance}.
6 I will sing to the LORD {YHWH, Faithful Deliverer}, for He has shown me generous favor {gamal: generous bestowal}.
