Leviticus 12TAB

And the LORD {YHWH, Covenant Lord} spoke to Moses, saying {lemor: formulaic introduction},

Speak to the sons of Israel, saying: If a woman {ishah: adult female} conceives and gives birth to a male, she will be unclean for seven days, as the days of the impurity of her menstruation {niddah: ritual separation}, she shall be unclean.

And on the eighth day the flesh {besar: physical body} of his foreskin shall be circumcised {yimol: covenant sign}.

For thirty-three days she shall remain in the bloods of purification; she shall not touch any holy thing {kodesh: sacred object} or enter the sanctuary {mikdash: holy dwelling} until the completion of the days of her purification.

If she bears a daughter, she shall be unclean for two weeks {shevuayim: dual duration} as during her menstruation. Then for sixty-six days she shall remain in the blood of purification {tahorah: ceremonial cleansing}.

And when the days of her purification {tahorah: ritual cleansing period} are fulfilled for a son or for a daughter, she shall bring a year-old lamb for a burnt offering and a young pigeon or a turtledove for a sin offering to the entrance of the tent of meeting, to the priest {kohen: officiating minister}.

And he shall present it before the LORD {YHWH, Atonement Giver} and make atonement for her, and she shall be clean from the source of her blood. This is the law {torah: prescribed instruction} for the woman who gives birth, whether she bears a male or a female.

And if her hand {yādāh: personal means} does not find enough for a lamb, she shall take two turtledoves or two young pigeons—one for a burnt offering and one for a sin offering. Then the priest {kōhên: worship mediator} will atone for her, and she will be clean.
