He dresses himself and goes where he chooses.

Someone else dresses him and decides the route.

He waits for others to tell him where to move.

He can travel only when another person leads him.

Another person will fasten or clothe him.

He will be taken where he does not want to go.

He will keep choosing every step for himself.

Practice receiving help now and let God lead when your plans change.

Refuse help so you can stay in control for as long as possible.

Wait until you are forced to depend on others before you ever ask.

Treat the verse as only about later life and ignore its present wisdom.

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned and tried to run my own life. I turn from my sin and ask for your mercy. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I confess you as my Lord and receive you as my Savior. Lead me even when I do not know the path ahead. Amen.

Lord Jesus, Lead My Life

Lord, revive your Church where we have loved control more than trust. Teach us to welcome help, to honor weakness, and to walk gently with those who are aging, burdened, or afraid. Make us a people who follow where you lead, even when the road is not what we would choose, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Renew Your Church in Humble Dependence

Father, when I fear losing strength or being carried where I would rather not go, steady my heart. Remind me that your care does not end when my control does, and teach me to receive help without shame, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Peace for the Seasons of Aging

Pray by naming one area where you resist needing help. Ask God to loosen your grip on control, to show you where self-sufficiency is hiding, and to give you grace to receive guidance without shame.

Pray for a Teachable Heart

Pray over these topics: gratitude for the people who have dressed, guided, carried, or steadied you; thanks for the strength you have known so far; gratitude for the gift of learning humility before later seasons arrive.

Giving Thanks for Those Who Help Us

Pray for older believers, people facing illness, and anyone who feels their life moving beyond their control. Ask God to meet them with dignity, patient care, and peaceful trust, and to send gentle companions who will walk with them.
