Wait until life becomes quiet before seeking his words

Focus on the event itself and ignore the teaching

Assume spiritual teaching is only for religious professionals

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, you are the teacher I need. I admit that I have sinned and gone my own way. I turn from my sin and ask you to forgive me. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. Be my Lord, lead me in your truth, and teach my heart to follow you. Amen.

Teach Me Your Truth

Lord, just as Jesus taught in the temple during the feast, revive your Church to speak your truth with courage and clarity in the middle of everyday life. Awaken us from passivity, deepen our love for your word, and make us faithful teachers and listeners wherever people gather, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Renew Your Church in the Midst of the Crowd

Thank God that Jesus came into the temple and made truth available in the middle of ordinary festival life. Give thanks that he is not hidden from seekers, and that his teaching still meets people where they are.

Gratitude for Jesus' Teaching

Pray by naming one busy place in your week, asking Jesus to meet you there, and asking for the attention to listen when he teaches.

Pray for a Teachable Heart

Bring to God your hurry, distractions, and resistance to being taught. Ask him for a steady mind, a receptive heart, and joy in learning from Jesus.

Growing in Attention

Pray for those who come to worship, study, or gather in public places this week. Ask God to open their ears to Jesus' teaching and to make his truth clear among them.
