1 LORD {YHWH, Merciful Judge}, do not rebuke me in Your anger {ap: churning indignation}, nor chasten me in Your wrath.
2 Be gracious to me, O LORD {YHWH, Mercy Giver}, for I am weak {umlal: deeply frail}; heal me, O LORD, for my bones are terrified.
3 And my soul is greatly dismayed, and You, O LORD {YHWH, Merciful Hearer}, how long {ad-matai: until when}?
4 Return, O LORD {YHWH, Merciful Rescuer}, deliver my soul {nafshi: life essence}; save me for the sake of Your steadfast love.
5 For in death {mavet: state beyond life} there is no remembrance of You {YHWH, Worthy Receiver of Praise}; in Sheol who will give You thanks?
6 I am weary with my groaning {anhah: deep sighing}; night after night I soak my bed with my tears, and I drench my couch {arash: resting place}.
7 My eye {eini: anguished perception} has grown dim from grief; it is worn out because of all my adversaries {tzorerai: hostile pursuers}.
8 Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity, for the LORD {YHWH, Righteous Judge} has heard the voice of my weeping {bikhyi: lamentation}.
9 The LORD {YHWH, Prayer Hearer} has heard my supplication {techinnah: earnest plea}; the LORD will receive my prayer.
10 All my enemies will be greatly ashamed {yevoshu: public humiliation} and utterly terrified {yibahalu: inner panic}; they will turn back and be put to shame in a moment.
