Because the disciples were afraid of the Jews

Because they feared Roman authorities instead

Because they wanted the room to stay private

Because they were waiting until it felt safe to go out

Wait until everyone is calm before drawing near

Keep your distance so the fear does not spread

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit my sin and my need for you. I turn from the fear and sin I have been holding on to. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. Come into my life, forgive me, and be my Lord. Stand in the center of my heart and give me your peace. Amen.

Receive the Peace of Christ

Lord, revive your Church where we are locked behind fear. Gather us around your presence, free us from hiding, and teach us to carry your peace into troubled places. Make us a people who stand with Jesus and speak peace to the frightened, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Revive Your Church with Peace

Father, thank you that Jesus comes into shut doors and fearful places. Thank you that he does not stay far away, but comes among his people and speaks peace. Let gratitude turn my heart toward trust, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Thank You for Coming Near

Lord, when my heart feels closed up and afraid, come near to me as you came to the disciples. Stand at the center of my worry, calm my thoughts, and let your peace rest on me, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Peace for a Fearful Heart

Pray by naming one place of fear or pressure, telling Jesus where it feels shut, asking him to stand in the middle of it, and waiting quietly for his peace before you move on.

Praying Through a Locked Door

Pray for: a friend whose home feels tense; a church or small group tempted to hide in fear; a person who needs Christ's calming presence; courage to speak peace rather than panic.

Peace for Others
