In the latter days, the mountain{har: temple mount} of the house of the LORD{YHWH, Zion’s Exalter} will be made secure as the chief among the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and peoples will stream to it.
Many nations will advance and call out, “Come, let us ascend to the mountain of the LORD {YHWH, Source of Instruction} and to the house of the God {Elohim, Ancestral Guardian} of Jacob.” He will teach us His ways, and we will walk in His paths. For from Zion teaching will go out, and from Jerusalem the word of the LORD.
And He {YHWH, Righteous Judge} will judge among many peoples; He will issue a verdict {hokiah: corrective ruling} for powerful nations, even to distant regions. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. A nation will not lift up a sword against another nation, and they will not learn war again.
They will sit, each one under his vine and under his fig tree, and no one will make them afraid; for the mouth {pi: binding decree} of the LORD of hosts {YHWH tsevaot: Sovereign Commander} has spoken.
For all the peoples will each walk in the name of their god; but we will walk in the name of the LORD our God {YHWH Eloheinu, Covenant Keeper} for all eternity {le-olam va-ed: without end}.
In that day, declares the LORD {YHWH, Speaking Redeemer}; I will assemble the lame {hatssoleah: limping ones}; I will gather the driven-away, even those whom I have afflicted.
And I will appoint the one who limps as a remnant {she’erit: faithful survivors}, and the one cast off as a strong nation. And the LORD {YHWH, Sovereign of Zion} will reign over them on Mount Zion from this time and into perpetuity.
And you, tower {migdal-eder: Watchtower Outpost} of the flock, Ophel of the daughter of Zion, to you it will come: the former dominion {memshalah: Governing Authority} will return, the kingdom to the daughter of Jerusalem.
Now, why do you raise such a cry {rea: public wail}? Is there no king in your midst? Has your counselor {yoatsek: guiding voice} perished, so that pangs have overtaken you like a woman in childbirth?
Writhe and moan, daughter of Zion, like a woman in labor; for now you will leave the city {qiryah: settled town} and live in the field, and then go on to Babylon. There you will be delivered; there the LORD {YHWH, Exile-Redeemer} will redeem you from the hand of your enemies.
Now many nations have gathered against you, saying, “Let her be defiled {tehunnaph: made unclean}, and let our eyes look on Zion {Tziyon: holy hill}.”
But they do not know the thoughts of the LORD {YHWH, Righteous Judge}, nor do they discern His counsel {atsato: fixed decision}, for He has gathered them like a sheaf to the threshing floor.
Rise, and thresh, Daughter of Zion; for I will make your horn iron and your hooves bronze, and you will crush many peoples. And I will devote their gain to the LORD {YHWH, Consecration Lord}, and their wealth to the Lord {adon, Earthwide Sovereign} of all the earth.
