Song of Solomon 7TAB

How beautiful are your feet in sandals, O daughter of a noble {bat-nadiv: honourable lineage}! The curves of your thighs are like jewels, the work of skilled hands {yedei aman: expert craftsmanship}.

Your navel is like a round bowl {aggān: circular vessel} that does not lack mixed wine; your belly is a heap of wheat encircled with lilies {shoshannim: decorative flowers}.

Your two breasts are like two young gazelles {efarim: youthful grace}, twins {teomei: perfect symmetry} of a gazelle.

Your neck is like a tower of ivory; your eyes are like pools in Heshbon by the gate of the daughter of many {bat-rabbim: public thoroughfare}; your nose is like the tower of Lebanon {Lebanon: mountainous stronghold}, watching over the face of Damascus.

Your head is upon you like Carmel {karmel: fertile plateau}, and the locks of your head are like purple; a king is held captive in those tresses {rehatim: flowing channels}.

How beautiful you are, and how pleasant {na’amet: gentle delight}, O love {ahavah: enduring affection}, among delights!

This is your stature—it is like a palm tree {tamar: graceful tree}, and your breasts are like clusters {ashkolot: bunches of grapes}.

I said, “I will climb the palm tree; I will take hold of its branches {sansinim: palm fronds or young shoots}. May your breasts be like clusters of the vine {gefen: symbol of fruitfulness}, and the scent of your nose like apples.”

And your palate is like the finest wine going to my beloved {dodi: intimate companion}, gently flowing to the upright {meisharim: morally upright ones}, stirring the lips of those who are asleep.

I am my beloved’s {dodi: affectionate title}, and his desire {teshukah: strong longing} is for me.

Come, my beloved {dodi: cherished one}, let us go out into the field; let us spend the night in the villages {kepharim: rural settlements}.

Let us rise early to the vineyards {lakramim: cultivated vineyard plots} to see whether the vine has blossomed, whether the blossom has opened, and whether the pomegranates {harimmonim: fruit-bearing clusters} have budded; there I will give you my love.

The mandrakes{hadudaim: love-plants} give off their fragrance, and at our gates are all kinds of precious fruits, new as well as old, which I have stored up for you, my beloved{dodi: intimate companion}.
