1 So all the work that Solomon carried out for the house of the LORD {YHWH, Temple Sovereign} was completed; and Solomon brought in the dedicated things of David his father—the silver, the gold, and all the utensils—and he placed them in the treasuries of the house of God {Elohim, Sacred Dweller}.
2 Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the leaders of the ancestral fathers for the sons of Israel, to Jerusalem to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD {YHWH, Covenant Keeper} from the city of David—it is Zion {Tsiyon: sacred stronghold}.
3 And all the men of Israel {Yisrael: united nation} assembled to the king at the festival {chag: sacred observance}; it was the seventh month.
4 And all the elders {ziknei: tribal leaders} of Israel came, and the Levites carried the ark {aron: sacred chest}.
5 And they brought up the ark, the tent of meeting, and all the vessels {kelei hakodesh: sacred utensils} that were in the tent; the priests, the Levites {ha-leviyim: tribe of Levi serving the sanctuary} brought them up.
6 And King Solomon and all the assembly {adat: united congregation} of Israel, who had assembled with him before the ark, were sacrificing sheep and cattle that could not be counted or numbered because of the multitude {rov: overwhelming abundance}.
7 And the priests brought the ark of the covenant of the LORD {YHWH, Sanctuary Dweller} to its place, to the inner sanctuary {devir: innermost chamber} of the house, to the Holy of Holies, beneath the wings of the cherubim.
8 The cherubim {keruvim: angelic guardians} spread out their wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubim covered the ark and its poles {baddav: carrying poles} from above.
9 And the poles {baddim: carrying rods} were extended so that the ends of the poles were visible from the Holy Place before the inner sanctuary {devir: holy inner chamber}, but they were not visible from outside; and they remain there to this day.
10 There was nothing in the ark except the two tablets that Moses had placed {natan: set, entrusted} at Horeb, where the LORD {YHWH, Covenant-Cutter} cut a covenant with the sons of Israel as they came out of Egypt.
11 And it came to pass, when the priests came out from the Holy Place, for all the priests who were present had sanctified themselves {hitkadashu: set themselves apart for sacred service}, none keeping to their divisions {machlekot: assigned priestly courses}.
12 And the Levites who were the singers—Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun, and their sons and brothers—dressed in fine linen {butz: white flax garment}, with cymbals, harps, and lyres, stood on the east side of the altar. With them were 120 priests {kohanim: sacred ministers} sounding trumpets.
13 And when the trumpeters and singers stood as one to produce a single sound, they praised and gave thanks to the LORD {YHWH, Voice of Praise}, and as they lifted up their voice with trumpets, cymbals, and instruments of song, they proclaimed, “For He is good, for His steadfast love {chesed: covenant loyalty} is everlasting.” Then the house was filled with a cloud—the house of the LORD.
14 And the priests were not able to remain standing to minister {sharet: priestly service} because of the cloud, for the glory of the LORD {YHWH, Manifest Presence} filled the house of God {Elohim, Sacred Dweller}.
