1 And when He {arnion: Seal Opener} opened the seventh seal, silence came upon heaven {ouranos: heavenly realm} for about half an hour.
2 And I saw seven angels who stand before God {Theos, Righteous Judge}, and seven trumpets {salpinges: ceremonial horns} were handed to them.
3 And a further angel arrived and took his place at the altar, bearing a golden censer {libanoton: incense vessel}; to him was entrusted a plentiful supply of incense so that he might offer it along with the prayers of all the saints on the golden altar before the throne {thronos: royal authority}.
4 And the smoke of the incense offerings {thumiamata: fragrant offerings}, together with the prayers of the saints, rose up before God {Theos, Receiver Of Prayer} from the angel’s hand.
5 And the angel {angelos: heavenly messenger} took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar {thusiasterion: sacrificial place}, then cast it down to the earth; and there followed peals of thunder, voices, flashes of lightning, and an earthquake.
6 And the seven angels {angeloi: divine messengers} who had the seven trumpets {salpingas: solemn summons} prepared themselves to sound them.
7 And the first angel sounded {esalpisen: trumpet call}, and hail {chalaza: devastating storm} and fire mixed with blood were thrown upon the earth; and a third of the earth was burned up, and a third of the trees was burned up, and all green grass was burned up.
8 And the second angel {angelos: commissioned messenger} sounded the trumpet, and something like a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea, and one third of the sea became blood {haima: vital life}.
9 And a third of the living creatures {ktismata: created beings} in the sea that had souls {psychas: life essence} died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.
10 And the third angel {angelos: heavenly envoy} sounded his trumpet, and a great star, burning like a torch, fell from heaven and fell upon a third of the rivers and upon the springs of the waters {hydaton: fresh supplies}.
11 And the name of the star is called Wormwood {apsinthos: symbolic bitter judgment}, and a third of the waters became wormwood, and many people died from the waters because they were made bitter {epikranthesan: turned deadly bitter}.
12 And the fourth angel {angelos: heavenly herald} sounded the trumpet, and one third of the sun was struck, and one third of the moon, and one third of the stars, so that one third of their light was darkened; and the day did not shine for one third of it, and the night in the same way {homoiōs: in equal darkness}.
13 And I saw and heard a solitary eagle {aetos: warning herald} wheel through the midheaven {mesouranema: high sky}, proclaiming in a thunderous voice, “Woe, woe, woe to those who dwell on the earth because of the remaining trumpet-voices of the three angels who are about to sound!”
