Zechariah 4TAB

And the angel {malakh: divine messenger} who speaks with me returned {vayyashav: came back} and awakened me, like a man who is awakened from his sleep.

And he said to me, "What do you see?" And I said, "I have seen—and behold, a lampstand {menorah: sacred seven-branched lamp} of gold, all of it, with its bowl upon its head, and its seven lamps upon it, and for each lamp there are seven outlets {mutsqot: oil channels}."

And there are two olive trees beside it, one on the right {miyamin: abundant provision} of the bowl {hagulah: oil vessel} and the other on its left.

And I answered and said to the angel {mala’akh: heavenly messenger} who was speaking with me, saying, “What are these, my lord {adoni: respectful title}?”

Then the angel {malakh: divine messenger} who spoke with me answered and said to me, “Do you not know what these are?” And I said, “No, my lord {adoni: respectful address}.”

And he answered and said to me, "This is the word of the LORD {YHWH, Divine Commander} to Zerubbabel: It will not be by might {chayil: military strength}, and it will not be by power, but by My Spirit," says the LORD of hosts.

Who are you, O great mountain {har hagadol: overwhelming barrier}? Before Zerubbabel {zerubbabel: progeny of Babylon} you will become level ground. And he will bring out the top stone with shouts of “Grace, grace to it!”

And the word of the LORD {YHWH, Message Giver} came to me {elai: first person recipient}, saying,

The hands {yedei: symbolizing personal agency} of Zerubbabel set the foundation of this house, and his hands will also finish it; then you will know that the LORD of hosts {YHWH Tsevaot, Commander of Armies} has sent me to you.

For who has despised the day of small things? They will rejoice when they see the plummet weight {bedil: plumb weight} in Zerubbabel’s hand. These seven are the eyes of the LORD {YHWH, Divine Overseer}, and they roam through all the earth.

And I answered and said to him, “What are these two olive trees {hazetim: symbol of provision} on the right side of the lampstand {menorah: seven-branched candlestick} and on its left side?”

And I answered a second time and said to him, “What are these two branches {shibalei: olive shoots} of the olive trees which are in the hand of the two gold pipes that pour out the golden oil {ha-zahav: precious substance} from upon them?”

And he said to me, “Do you not know what these {elleh: specified objects} are?” And I replied, “No, my lord {adoni: deferential master}.”

And he said, “These are the two sons of oil {bney ha-yitzhar: anointed agents} who stand by the Lord {adon, Sovereign Master} of all the earth.”
