1 Let brotherly love {philadelphia: affection among fellow believers} continue {meneto: remain steadfast}.
2 Do not neglect hospitality {philoxenia: love for strangers}, for through this, some have shown hospitality {xenizo: welcomed as guests} to angels without knowing it.
3 Remember the prisoners {desmion: bound captives} as though you yourselves are bound with them, and those who are being mistreated, as you yourselves are also in the body {soma: physical existence}.
4 Marriage should be honored among all, and the marriage bed {koite: intimate union} kept undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers God {Theos, Holy Purity Judge} will judge.
5 Let your way of life be free from the love of money, being content {arkoumenoi: inwardly satisfied} with the things you have; for He Himself {Theos, Faithful Promise Giver} has said, “I will never leave you, nor will I ever forsake you.”
6 Therefore we may say with confidence: “The Lord {Kyrios, Faithful Protector} is my helper {boethos: ready rescuer}; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”
7 Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God {Theos, Divine Instructor}. As you carefully consider the result of their conduct {anastrophe: manner of life}, imitate their faith.
8 Jesus Christ {Iesous Christos, Unchanging Savior} is the same {autos: constant identity} yesterday and today and for the ages.
9 Do not be carried away by various and strange teachings, for it is good for the heart to be established by grace {chariti: unearned divine favor}, not by foods {bromasin: ritual meals}, by which those who walk in them were not benefited.
10 We have an altar {thysiasterion: new-covenant offering} from which those who serve the tabernacle {skene: former worship dwelling} have no right to eat.
11 For the blood of those animals which is brought concerning sin into the holy places by the high priest {archiereus: chief priestly mediator}, the bodies of these are burned up outside the camp {parembole: assembly encampment}.
12 Therefore Jesus {Iesous, Saving Messiah} also suffered outside the gate in order to sanctify the people through His own blood {haima: sacrificial offering}.
13 Therefore, let us go out to Him {Iesous, Suffering Messiah} outside the camp, bearing His reproach {oneidismos: public shame}.
14 For we do not have here {hode: present location} a remaining city {polis: earthly community}, but we are seeking the one that is to come.
15 Therefore, through Him {Christos, Perfect Mediator}, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God {Theos, Focus Of Worship}; that is, the fruit of lips that openly affirm His name {onomati: revealed character}.
16 But do not neglect doing good {eupoiia: intentional beneficence} and sharing, for with such sacrifices God {Theos, Delighted Approver} is well pleased.
17 Obey your leaders and yield to them, for they themselves keep watch over your souls {psyche: inner life} as those who will render an account {logos: formal reckoning}, so that they may do this with joy and not with groaning; for this would be unprofitable for you.
18 Pray concerning us, for we are convinced that we have a good conscience {syneidesin: moral awareness}, in all things desiring to conduct ourselves {anastrepesthai: daily behavior pattern} honorably.
19 But I urge {parakalo: earnest, heartfelt appeal} you more earnestly to do this, in order that I may be restored to you more quickly {tachion: sooner, without delay}.
20 Now may the God {Theos, Peace-Establishing Father} of peace, who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus {Kyrios Iesous, Exalted Shepherd}, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant,
21 Equip {katartisai: fully prepare} you in every good thing to do His will, by working in us what is well-pleasing before Him through Jesus Christ {Iesous Christos, Faithful Mediator}. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.
22 I appeal to you, brothers {adelphoi: fellow believers}, be patient with the word {logos: delivered message} of exhortation; for I have written to you in only a few words.
23 Know that our brother {adelphos: fellow believer} Timothy has been released {apolelymenon: freed from custody}; with whom, if he comes soon, I will see you.
24 Greet all your leaders {hegoumenous: recognized overseers} and all the saints {hagious: consecrated people}. Those from Italy greet you.
25 The grace {charis: undeserved favor} be with all {panton: entire assembly} of you.
