And a shoot {choter: new growth} will come forth from the stump of Jesse {yishai: David’s father}, and a branch from his roots will bear fruit.
And the Spirit of the LORD {YHWH, Divine Empowerer} will rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom {chokhmah: intuitive insight} and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD.
He will delight in the fear of the LORD {YHWH, Covenant Authority}, and he will not judge by what his eyes {ayin: perspective or discernment} see, nor reprove by what his ears hear.
But he will judge the poor with righteousness {tsedeq: moral rightness}, and will decide with equity for the meek of the earth {anvei-aretz: lowly ones}. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he will put the wicked to death.
And righteousness {tsedeq: moral integrity} will be the belt of His loins, and faithfulness {emunah: steadfast loyalty} the belt of His waist.
And the wolf will dwell with the lamb, and the leopard will lie down with the young goat; and the calf, the young lion, and the fatling {meri’a: richly nourished} will be together, and a little child will lead {noheg: guides safely} them.
And the cow and the bear shall graze; together their young ones {yaldeihen: offspring} shall lie down; and the lion shall eat straw {teven: animal fodder} like the ox.
The infant {yoneq: nursing child} shall play on the hole of the asp {paten: venomous serpent}, and the weaned child shall put forth his hand on the viper’s den.
They will not hurt or destroy in all My holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge {de’ah: experiential understanding} of the LORD {YHWH, Universal Sovereign} as the waters cover the sea.
And it will come to pass in that day that the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner {nes: rallying standard} for the peoples; to Him {Messianic King: Promised Ruler} the nations will seek, and His resting place will be glorious.
And it shall come to pass in that day, the Lord {Adonai, Supreme Ruler} will stretch out His hand a second time to acquire the remnant {she'ar: surviving group} of His people who remain, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.
And He {YHWH, Regatherer of Israel} will raise a banner for the nations, and He will gather the outcasts {nidchei: those driven away} of Israel, and will bring together the scattered ones of Judah from the four corners of the earth.
And the jealousy {kin’at: zealous rivalry} of Ephraim will turn aside, and the adversaries {tzorerai: hostile adversaries} of Judah will be cut off; Ephraim will not envy Judah, and Judah will not be hostile toward Ephraim.
And they shall swoop down on the shoulder of the Philistines {pelishtim: coastal adversaries} to the west; together they shall plunder {yavozu: seize as spoil} the children of the east. Edom and Moab shall come under the extension of their hand, and the sons of Ammon shall obey them.
And the LORD {YHWH, Supreme Deliverer} will utterly destroy the tongue {lashon: inlet} of the Egyptian sea, and He will wave His hand over the river with the force of His wind, and He will strike it into seven streams and will make people walk over with sandals.
And there shall be a highway {mesillah: Raised Causeway} for the remnant {lish'ar: Survivors} of His people who will remain from Assyria, just as there was for Israel on the day of his coming up from the land of Egypt.
