1 Keep watch over the month of Aviv and uphold the Passover {pesach: festival of deliverance} to the LORD your God {YHWH Eloheicha, Redeemer of Israel}, because it was in Aviv, by night, that the LORD your God brought you out of Egypt.
2 You shall sacrifice the Passover {pesach: festival sacrifice} to the LORD your God {YHWH Eloheikha, Covenant Upholder} from the flock and the herd, at the place the LORD will choose to cause His name to dwell there.
3 You shall not eat leavened bread {chametz: fermented dough} with it. For seven days you shall eat unleavened bread with it, bread of affliction {oni: hardship}. For in haste you went out from the land of Egypt, so that you may remember the day of your coming out from the land of Egypt all the days of your life.
4 And no leaven {se’or: fermenting agent} shall be seen in all your territory for seven days; nor shall any of the meat {bassar: sacrificial meat} which you sacrifice on the evening of the first day remain until the morning.
5 You are not able to sacrifice the Passover in any of your gates {she’ar: city entrance}, which the LORD your God {YHWH Elohecha, Covenant Giver} gives to you.
6 But only at the place which the LORD your God {YHWH Eloheikha, Place Sanctifier} will choose to cause His name {shem: reputation and presence} to dwell, you shall sacrifice the Passover in the evening, at sunset, at the appointed time of your coming out from Egypt.
7 And you shall cook {uvishelta: prepare by cooking} and eat it at the place which the LORD your God {YHWH Eloheicha, Covenant-Choosing Redeemer} will choose; then in the morning you shall turn and go to your tents.
8 For six days you shall eat unleavened breads, and on the seventh day there shall be an assembly to the LORD your God {YHWH Eloheikha: Worship Receiver}; you shall not do any work {melakhah: occupational labor}.
9 You shall count seven weeks for yourself, and from the time {meha-khel: Starting Point} you begin to put the sickle {khermesh: Harvesting Tool} into the standing grain, you shall begin to count seven weeks.
10 And you shall observe the Festival of Weeks to the LORD your God {YHWH Elohecha, Covenant Provider} with a portion of a freewill offering from your hand {yad: personal action}, which you shall give as the LORD your God blesses you.
11 And you shall rejoice before the LORD your God {YHWH Eloheicha, Covenant Presence}—you, your son, your daughter, your servant, your maidservant, the Levite {Levi: tribe set apart} who is within your gates, and the sojourner, the orphan, and the widow who are among you—in the place that the LORD your God will choose to cause His Name to dwell there.
12 And you shall remember that you were a slave {eved: enforced servitude} in Egypt, and you shall carefully keep and do these statutes {hukkim: binding ordinances}.
13 You shall keep the Festival{chag: pilgrimage feast} of Tabernacles for yourself for seven days, when you gather in from your threshing floor{goren: grain processing place} and from your winepress.
14 And you shall rejoice in your festival—you, your son, your daughter, your male servant, your female servant, the Levite, the sojourner {ger: resident alien}, the orphan, and the widow {almanah: woman without husband} who is within your gates.
15 For seven days you shall celebrate the festival to the LORD your God {YHWH Eloheicha, Covenant Giver} in the place that the LORD will choose, for the LORD your God will bless you in all your produce {tevuah: harvest yield} and in all the work of your hands; and you shall be only joyful.
16 Three times each year all your males shall appear before the LORD your God {YHWH Eloheikha, Covenant Festival King} at the place he designates for worship: the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the Festival of Weeks, and the Festival of Booths; and none shall come before the LORD empty-handed {reikam: without an offering}.
17 Each man shall give according to the gift of his hand, according to the blessing of the LORD your God {YHWH Eloheikha, Generous Source} which He has given {natan: bestowed} to you.
18 You shall appoint judges and officers for yourself in all your gates {sheʿārīm: city entrances}, which the LORD your God {YHWH Eloheikha, Judicial Sovereign} is giving you for your tribes, and they shall judge the people with a judgment of justice.
19 You shall not pervert justice, you shall not show favor {panim: personal appearance}, and you shall not accept a bribe, for the bribe {hashokhad: illicit gift} blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the righteous.
20 Pursue justice, justice, so that you may live {tichyeh: covenant life} and possess the land that the LORD your God {YHWH Eloheicha, Covenant Giver} is giving you.
21 You must not plant for yourself an Asherah {asherah: cultic pole, pagan shrine}—any tree—beside the altar of the LORD your God {YHWH Eloheikha, Covenant Lawgiver}, which you make for yourself.
22 And you shall not set up for yourself a pillar {matzevah: cultic pillar} that the LORD your God {YHWH Elohecha, Guardian of Covenant} hates.
