1 And the LORD {YHWH, Covenant Speaker} spoke to Moses, saying {leemor: direct speech marker},
2 Command the sons of Israel to bring you pure olive oil that has been beaten {katit: crushed} for the light, to cause the lamps to burn continually {tamid: at all times}.
3 Outside the curtain of the testimony in the tent of meeting, Aaron shall arrange it from evening until morning before the LORD {YHWH, Devotional Focus} continually. This is a perpetual statute {huqqat: binding ordinance} for your generations.
4 Upon the pure lampstand {menorah: sacred lamp} he shall arrange the lamps before the LORD {YHWH, Light Giver} continually.
5 You shall take fine flour and bake it into twelve loaves; two-tenths {esronim: two tenth-measures of an ephah} shall be for each loaf {khallah: sacred bread}.
6 And you shall place them in two rows {ma’arakhot: arranged sets}, six in each row, on the pure table before the LORD {YHWH, Holy Presence}.
7 And you shall place pure frankincense upon the arrangement, and it shall be for the bread as a memorial-portion {azkarah: remembrance offering}, a fire-offering to the LORD {YHWH, Holy Recipient}.
8 On each Sabbath day he shall arrange it before the LORD {YHWH, Covenant-Keeper} continually, as a perpetual covenant {berit: binding agreement} from the sons of Israel.
9 And it shall be for Aaron and for his sons, and they shall eat it in a holy place, for it is Kodesh Kodashim {kodesh kodashim: highest level of sanctity} to him from the fire offerings of the LORD {YHWH, Worship Recipient}, a perpetual statute.
10 And the son of an Israelite woman {yisreelit: female descendant of Israel}—but he was the son of an Egyptian man—went out among the sons of Israel {bnei yisrael: national community}. And they fought in the camp between the son of the Israelite woman and an Israelite man.
11 And the son of the Israelite woman blasphemed the Name {shem: Revered Title} and cursed, and they brought him to Moses {moshe: Covenant Lawgiver}. The name of his mother was Shelomith, daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan.
12 And they placed him in custody to interpret the case {lifrosh: legal interpretation} for them according to the command of the LORD {YHWH, Judicial Law-Giver}.
13 And the LORD {YHWH, Lawgiver} spoke to Moses, saying {lemor: introducing direct speech}.
14 Bring the blasphemer {hamqallel: one who curses} outside the camp, and let all the hearers lay their hands on his head, and let all the assembly {ha-edah: congregation of Israel} stone him.
15 And you shall speak to the sons of Israel, saying, “Any man, any man, when he curses his God {elohav: Object of Devotion}, he shall bear his sin {chet’o: Incurred Guilt}.”
16 And whoever blasphemes the name of the LORD {YHWH, Supreme Judge} must surely be put to death; the entire congregation {edah: assembly of witnesses} shall stone him. As with the foreigner, so with the native-born, when he blasphemes the Name, he shall be put to death.
17 And if any man kills any human being {nefesh adam: human life}, he shall surely be put to death {mot: capital penalty}.
18 And anyone who kills{makeh: violently slays} the life{nefesh: living being} of an animal must make restitution—life for life.
19 And if any man causes a blemish {mum: physical defect} to his neighbor {amito: legal equal}, just as he has done, so it shall be done to him.
20 Fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth. Just as he causes an injury {mum: bodily blemish} to a person {adam: human being}, so it shall be inflicted upon him.
21 And whoever kills an animal shall make restitution {yeshallmenah: full compensation} for it, but whoever kills a human being shall be put to death {yumat: capital punishment}.
22 There shall be one law {mishpat: legal decision} for you, as for the sojourner and as for the native-born, for I am the LORD your God {YHWH Eloheichem, Righteous Lawgiver}.
23 And Moses spoke to the sons of Israel, and they brought out the one who blasphemed outside the camp and stoned him with a stone. And the sons of Israel did just as the LORD {YHWH, Righteous Commander} had commanded Moses {Mosheh: chosen leader}.
