1 And the LORD {YHWH, Divine Legislator} spoke to Moses {Mosheh: appointed mediator}, saying,
2 Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, “The appointed times of the LORD {YHWH, Covenant Festival Giver}, which you shall proclaim as holy convocations {mikra'ei: sacred assemblies}, are My appointed times.”
3 Six days work may be done, but on the seventh day is a Sabbath {shabbat: ceasing from labor} of complete rest, a holy convocation. You shall not do any work; it is a Sabbath to the LORD {YHWH, Covenant Sanctifier} in all your dwellings.
4 These are the appointed times of the LORD {YHWH, Covenant Festival Giver}, holy convocations {mikra: sacred gatherings}, which you shall proclaim at their set times.
5 In the first month, on the fourteenth {arbaah asar: four plus ten} day of the month, between the evenings, is the Passover to the LORD {YHWH, Redeemer}.
6 And on the fifteenth day of this month the Festival {chag: appointed sacred gathering} of Unleavened Breads is for the LORD {YHWH, Festival Lord}; for seven days you shall eat unleavened breads.
7 On the first day, a holy assembly {mikra: gathering for sacred purpose} shall be for you; you shall not engage in labor {avodah: servile tasks}.
8 And you shall present a fire offering to the LORD {YHWH, Worship Receiver} for seven days; on the seventh day there shall be a holy convocation {mikra-qodesh: proclaimed sacred assembly}; you shall not do any work of service.
9 And the LORD {YHWH, Divine Legislator} spoke to Moses, saying {le’emor: speech introducer}.
10 Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, “When you enter the land which I {ani: Land Giver} am giving to you and reap its harvest, then you shall bring a sheaf {omer: measured bundle} of the firstfruits of your harvest to the priest.”
11 And he shall wave the sheaf before the LORD {YHWH, Worship Receiver} for your acceptance {lirtsonkhem: favor in sacrifice}: on the day after the Sabbath, the priest shall wave it.
12 On the day of your waving the sheaf, you shall offer a male lamb {keves: young sheep} without blemish, a year old, for a burnt offering to the LORD {YHWH, Covenant Sanctifier}.
13 And its grain offering shall be two tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with olive oil, a fire offering to the LORD {YHWH, Worship Recipient}, a pleasing aroma {rei’ach: fragrant presentation}; and its drink offering shall be wine, a quarter of a hin.
14 You shall not eat bread or roasted grain or fresh grain {karmel: new ears} until this very day, until you present the offering to your God {Elohim, Worship Receiver}. It is a lasting statute for your generations in all your dwelling places.
15 And you shall count for yourselves from the day after the Sabbath {hashabbat: weekly rest}, from the day you brought the sheaf of the wave offering, seven complete {temimot: ritual completeness} Sabbaths {shabbatot: week cycles} there shall be.
16 Until the day after the seventh Sabbath, you shall count fifty days; then you shall present a new offering {minchah: grain tribute} to the LORD {YHWH, Worship Receiver}.
17 From your dwellings you shall bring two loaves of fine flour{solet: carefully sifted grain} as a wave offering of two tenths; they shall be leavened and baked as firstfruits to the LORD{YHWH, Festival Lawgiver}.
18 And you shall bring near with the bread seven lambs without blemish {temimim: complete offering} one year old, one young bull, and two rams; these shall be a burnt offering to the LORD {YHWH, Worthy Receiver}, with their grain offering and their drink offerings, an offering by fire, a pleasing aroma to the LORD.
19 And you shall prepare one male goat of the goats for a sin offering {chatat: ritual atonement}, and two lambs a year old for a sacrifice of peace offerings {shelamim: wholeness offering}.
20 And the priest shall wave them with the bread of the firstfruits, with the two lambs, before the LORD {YHWH, Worship Recipient} as a wave offering. They shall be holy {kodesh: set apart} to the LORD for the priest.
21 And you shall proclaim on this very day a holy convocation for you. You shall do no work of labor. It is a statute {chukat: binding ordinance} forever in all your dwelling places, throughout your generations {ledoroteichem: perpetual descendants}.
22 And when you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not finish {tekhalleh: leave nothing remaining} the edge of your field in your reaping, nor shall you gather the gleanings of your harvest. For the poor and the sojourner you shall leave them. I am the LORD your God {YHWH Eloheikhem, Provider and Lawgiver}.
23 And the LORD {YHWH, Lawgiver} spoke to Moses, saying {leimor: formal declaration},
24 Speak to the sons of Israel and say: In the seventh month, on the first of the month, there shall be for you a sabbath observance, a memorial {zikron: sacred remembrance} of trumpet blast, and a holy convocation {mikra: special convocation}.
25 You shall not do any work {meleket: purposeful activity} of service, but you shall bring near a fire-offering to the LORD {YHWH, Ritual Recipient}.
26 And the LORD {YHWH, Covenant Communicator} spoke to Moses, saying {lemor: formula for prophetic address},
27 Surely on the tenth day of this seventh month it is the Day of Atonements; a sacred assembly shall it be for you, and you shall afflict your souls {nephesh: life essence}, and you shall present a fire offering to the LORD {YHWH, Holy Judge}.
28 And you shall not do any work on the very day {etsem: core/essence}, because it is the Day of Atonements, to make atonement for you before the LORD your God {YHWH Eloheikhem, Merciful Judge}.
29 Every soul {nefesh: life essence} that does not humble itself on this exact day shall be cut off {nikkretah: expulsion} from its people.
30 And every soul {nefesh: entire person} who does any work on this very day, I {YHWH, Disciplinary Judge} will destroy that soul from the midst of his people.
31 You shall not do any work at all. It shall be an everlasting statute {chukat: binding ordinance} for your generations throughout all your dwelling places {moshavot: settled habitations}.
32 A sabbath of complete rest it shall be for you, and you shall afflict your souls {nefesh: Life Essence}; on the ninth of the month at evening, from evening to evening, you shall observe your sabbath {shabbat: Holy Cessation}.
33 The LORD {YHWH, Law-Giver} spoke to Moses {Mosheh: appointed leader}, saying:
34 Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, “On the fifteenth day of this seventh month the Festival of Booths {hasukkot: temporary shelters} shall be to the LORD {YHWH, Festival Recipient} for seven days.”
35 On the first day {harishon: festival opening} there shall be a sacred assembly {mikra: public convocation}; you shall do no work of service.
36 For seven days you shall present a fire offering to the LORD {YHWH, Worship Recipient}. On the eighth day there shall be a sacred assembly {mikra: convocation for worship}, and you shall present a fire offering to the LORD. This is a solemn assembly; you shall not do any work of service.
37 These are the appointed times of the LORD {YHWH, Covenant Regulator}, which you shall proclaim as holy convocations {mikra: sacred gathering}, to bring near a fire-offering for the LORD—burnt offering and grain offering, sacrifice and drink offerings—each on its proper day.
38 Apart from the Sabbaths of the LORD {YHWH, Sanctifier}, and apart from your gifts {mattanah: dedicated offerings}, and apart from all your vows, and apart from all your freewill offerings, which you shall give to the LORD
39 But on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the produce {tevu’at: agricultural yield} of the land, you shall celebrate the festival of the LORD {YHWH, Covenant Festival Giver} for seven days; on the first day shall be a complete rest, and on the eighth day shall be a complete rest.
40 And you shall take for yourselves on the first day the fruit of a beautiful tree {hadar: majesty}, branches of palm trees, a bough of thick-leaved tree, and willows of the brook; and you shall rejoice before the LORD your God {YHWH Eloheichem, Festival Provider} for seven days.
41 And you shall celebrate it as a festival to the LORD {YHWH, Covenant-Keeping Redeemer} for seven days in the year; it is a perpetual statute {chukkat: lasting ordinance} for your generations. In the seventh month you shall celebrate it.
42 You shall dwell in booths {sukkot: temporary shelters} for seven days; all the native-born {ezrach: natural citizens} of Israel shall dwell in booths.
43 So that your generations may know that I {YHWH, Covenant Deliverer} caused the sons of Israel to dwell in booths {sukkot: temporary shelters} when I brought them out from the land of Egypt; I am the LORD your God.
44 And Moses spoke the appointed times {moed: set times} of the LORD {YHWH, Festal Lawgiver} to the children of Israel.
