So then, my brothers {adelphoi: spiritual family}—dear ones I love and miss, my joy and my crown—keep standing firm in the Lord {Kyrios, Steadfast Lord}, beloved.
I urge Euodia, and I urge Syntyche, to have the same mind {phronein: shared perspective} in the Lord {Kyrios, Ground of Unity}.
Yes, I also ask you, true companion {syzygos: united coworker}, stand alongside these women and support them—women who struggled together with me in the gospel {euangelion: saving message}—along with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life.
Keep rejoicing in the Lord {Kyrios, Steadfast Joy Giver} at all times; I will say it again: rejoice {chairete: joyful gladness}.
Let your gentleness {epieikes: steady and gracious restraint} become evident to all people. The Lord {Kyrios, Present Helper} is near.
Do not be anxious about anything; instead, in every matter, through prayer {proseuche: reverent petition} and supplication with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God {Theos, Attentive Hearer}.
Then the peace of God {Theos, Source of Guarding Peace}, which goes beyond all understanding, will stand guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus {Christos Iesous, Sphere of Protection}.
For what remains, brothers, whatever things are true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, and commendable; if there is any excellence {arete: moral virtue} and if there is any praise {epainos: public approval}, let these be the things you keep considering.
The things you learned, received, heard, and saw in me—do these in practice; and the God {Theos, Steady Giver of Peace} of peace {eirene: spiritual wholeness} will be with you.
But I rejoiced greatly in the Lord {Kyrios, Joy Giver} because now at last your concern for me has come to life again; you were indeed concerned {ephroneite: thoughtfully attentive}, but you had no opportunity.
I am not saying this because of want {husteresis: material lack}; for I have learned, in whatever circumstances I am, to be content {autarkes: inner sufficiency}.
I know how to be brought low, and I know how to have abundance. In every situation and in all things, I have learned by experience {memyemai: learned by experience} both to be filled and to be hungry, both to abound and to be in need {hustereisthai: material lack}.
For all things {panta: every situation} I have strength through the One who empowers {endynamounti: gives strength} me.
Nevertheless, you acted well by sharing {synkoinoneo: active partnership} in my affliction {thlipsis: distressing hardship}.
And you also know, Philippians {Philippesioi: supportive believers}, that at the start of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church shared with me in the matter of giving {doseos: financial support} and receiving, except you alone.
For even in Thessalonica {Thessalonike: early mission field}, you sent help for my need {chreian: essential necessity} more than once.
Not that I seek the gift {doma: material support}, but I seek the fruit that is increasing for your account {logon: record, account kept}.
But I have received everything and I overflow; I am completely supplied, having received from Epaphroditus your gifts: a fragrant aroma {osme: pleasing fragrance}, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God {Theos, Delighted Receiver}.
And my God {Theos, Faithful Provider} will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus {Christos Iesous, Grace Mediator}.
Now to our God and Father {Theos kai Pater, Eternally Glorified One} belongs the glory {doxa: supreme honor} for ever and ever. Amen.
Give greetings to every saint {hagios: consecrated believer} in Christ Jesus {Christos Iesous, Saving Lord}. The brothers who are with me greet you.
All the holy ones {hagioi: believers set apart} greet you, especially those from Caesar's household {oikia: imperial residence}.
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ {Kyrios Iesous Christos, Grace Bestower} remain with your spirit {pneuma: inner being}.
