Hebrews 2TAB

For this reason it is necessary for us to pay much more careful attention to the things that have been heard {akoustheisin: proclaimed message}, lest we drift away {pararyomen: be swept past}.

For if the message spoken through angels became firm {bebaios: legally certain}, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense {misthapodosia: fitting penalty},

How will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at first began to be spoken by the Lord {Kyrios, Message Originator}, and was confirmed to us by those who heard {akousanton: eyewitness hearers}?

God {Theos, Confirming Witness} also testified, both by signs and wonders and by various powers, and by distributions of the Holy Spirit {Pneuma hagion, Gift Bestower}, according to His own will.

For He {Theos, Sovereign Arranger} did not subject to angels the world {oikoumene: inhabited realm} that is to come, about which we are speaking.

But someone has testified somewhere, saying, “What is man {anthropos: frail mortal}, that You {Theos, Attentive Creator} are mindful of him? Or the Son of Man, that You care for him?”

You {Theos, Ordainer of Rank} made him a little lower than the angels {angelos: heavenly messengers}; with glory and honor you have crowned him.

You {Theos, Sovereign Subjector} subjected all things under his feet; for when You subjected all things to him, You left nothing {ouden: complete exclusion} outside his rule. But now we do not yet see all things having been subjected to him.

But we see Jesus {Iesous, Suffering Redeemer}, who for a little while was made lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God {Theos, Sovereign Ordainer} He might taste death for everyone.

For it was fitting for Him {Theos, Divine Designer}, for whom are all things and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons into glory, to perfect the originator of their salvation through sufferings {pathematon: formative hardships}.

For both the One who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all from One. For this reason, He {Iesous, Holy Sanctifier} is not ashamed to call them brothers {adelphoi: covenant family}.

Saying, “I will proclaim Your {Theos, Honored Father} name to My brothers; in the midst of the assembly {ekklesias: worshiping congregation} I will sing praise to You.”

And again, “I will be trusting in Him.” And again, “Behold, I and the children {paidia: covenant family} whom God {Theos, Loving Giver} has given Me.”

Since, therefore, the children have shared in blood and flesh, He {Iesous, Incarnate Deliverer} Himself likewise participated in the same, so that through death He might abolish the one having the power of death—that is, the devil {diabolos: hostile accuser}.

And that He {Christos, Liberating Deliverer} might set free all those who, through fear of death, were for their entire lives subject to slavery {douleia: enforced bondage}.

For surely it is not angels that He {Christos, Compassionate Helper} takes hold of to help, but He takes hold of the seed {sperma: covenant descendants} of Abraham.

Therefore, He had to be made like His brothers in every way, so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest {archiereus: mediating representative} in matters relating to God {Theos, Holy Judge}, in order to make atonement for the sins of the people.

For in that He {Christos, Compassionate Helper} Himself has suffered when He was tempted, He is able to help {boethesai: provide timely aid} those who are being tempted.
