1 Paul, an apostle—not from men nor through a man, but through Jesus Christ {Iesous Christos, Appointed Messiah} and God the Father {Theos Pater, Resurrection Source}, who raised Him from the dead.
2 And all the brothers {adelphoi: fellow believers} who are with me, to the churches {ekklesiai: local assemblies} of Galatia:
3 Grace to you and peace from God {Theos, Fountain of Grace} the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ {Kyrios Iesous Christos, Bringer of Peace}.
4 He {Iesous Christos, Self-Giving Savior} who gave Himself for our sins {hamartion: moral guilt}, so that He might deliver us from the present evil age {aionos: hostile world-order}, according to the will of our God {Theos, Sovereign Redeemer} and Father {Pater: Relational Source}.
5 To whom be the glory {doxa: honor and praise} for the ages {aionas: unending times} of the ages. Amen.
6 I am amazed that you are so quickly turning away from the One who called you in the grace of Christ {Christos, Gracious Messiah} into a different gospel {euangelion: rival message}.
7 Which is not another; but there are some {tines: certain people} who are troubling you and wanting to pervert the gospel of Christ {Christos, Center Of The Gospel}.
8 But even if we or an angel {angelos: heavenly messenger} from heaven should proclaim good news to you contrary to what we have proclaimed to you, let him be accursed {anathema: devoted to destruction}.
9 As we have said before, so now I say again: if anyone proclaims good news {euangelizetai: announces a message} to you contrary to what you received {parelabete: originally accepted}, let him be accursed.
10 For am I now seeking to win the favor of people, or of God {Theos, Supreme Judge}? Or am I seeking to please people? If I were still pleasing people, I would not be a servant of Christ {Christos, True Master}.
11 For I make known to you, brothers, that the gospel {euangelion: good news message} which was preached by me is not according to man {anthropon: human origin}.
12 For I neither received it from a man, nor was I taught it, but through a revelation {apokalypseos: unveiling of hidden truth} of Jesus Christ {Iesous Christos, Risen Revealer}.
13 For you have heard of my former conduct {anastrophe: former way of life} in Judaism, that beyond measure I was persecuting the church of God {Theos, Church Lord} and was destroying it.
14 And I was advancing {proekopton: making progress} in Judaism beyond many of my contemporaries among my people, being far more zealous for the traditions {paradoseon: received customs} of my fathers.
15 But when God {Theos, Sovereign Caller} was pleased, the One who had set me apart {aphorisas: dedicated for sacred purpose} from my mother's womb and had called me through His grace,
16 To reveal His {Theos, Sovereign Revealer} Son in me, so that I might proclaim the good news about Him among the nations {ethne: peoples outside Israel}, I did not immediately consult with flesh {sarx: human weakness} and blood.
17 Nor did I go up to Jerusalem {Hierosolyma: covenant city} to those apostles who were before me, but I went away into Arabia, and again I returned to Damascus {Damaskon: ancient Syrian city}.
18 Then, after three years, I went up to Jerusalem to visit Cephas {Kephan: Aramaic name for Peter}, and I stayed with him for fifteen days {hemeras: specific duration}.
19 But I did not see any other of the apostles {apostolos: commissioned representatives} except James, the brother of the Lord {Kyrios, Incarnate Lord}.
20 But what I write to you, behold, before God {Theos, Truth Witness}, that I do not lie {pseudomai: speak falsely}.
21 Then I came into the regions {klimata: geographical districts} of Syria {Syrias: eastern province} and Cilicia.
22 But I was unknown in person {prosopō: physical appearance} to the churches of Judea that are in Christ {Christos, Spiritual Union Lord}.
23 But they were only hearing {akouo: receiving reports}, “The one who formerly persecuted us is now preaching the faith {pistis: believing allegiance} which he once was destroying.”
24 And they were glorifying God {Theos, One Glorified Through Paul} in me {emoi: Paul as instrument}.
