1 And the LORD {YHWH, Covenant Communicator} spoke to Moses {Mosheh: drawn from water}, saying,
2 And to the sons of Israel you shall say: Any man, any man from the sons of Israel and any sojourner {ger: resident foreigner} in Israel who gives any of his offspring to Molech shall surely be put to death; the people of the land shall stone him with stones {even: customary execution}.
3 I {YHWH, Holy Judge} will set my face against that man and will cut him off from the midst of his people because he gave some of his offspring to Molekh to defile my sanctuary {mikdashi: sacred dwelling} and to profane my holy name.
4 And if the people of the land {am ha'arets: local community} willfully hide their eyes {einehem: deliberate inattention} from that man when he gives his offspring to Molekh, so as not to put him to death—
5 I {YHWH, Divine Judge} will set my face {panai: divine confrontation} against that man and his family, and I will cut off him and all who prostitute themselves after him to Molech, from among their people.
6 And the soul who turns to the mediums {ovot: necromancers} and the spiritists, to prostitute themselves after them, I {YHWH, Divine Judge} will set my face against that soul and will cut it off from the midst of its people.
7 And you shall consecrate yourselves{hitqaddishtem: set yourselves apart}, and you shall be holy, because I am the LORD your God{YHWH Eloheichem, Holy Covenant Keeper}.
8 And you shall keep my statutes {chukotai: binding decrees} and do them; I am the LORD {YHWH, Sanctifier} who sanctifies you.
9 For any man who curses his father or his mother, he shall surely be put to death; he has cursed his father or his mother; his blood {dam: life-guilt} is upon him {bo: personal liability}.
10 If a man commits adultery with his neighbor’s wife, both the adulterer {hanoef: male who breaks the marriage covenant} and the adulteress must surely be put to death {mot-yumat: sentence of capital punishment}.
11 And if a man {ish: individual male} lies with his father's wife, he has uncovered his father's nakedness {ervah: prohibited sexual exposure}. They shall surely be put to death, both of them; their blood is upon them.
12 Any man who lies with his daughter-in-law shall surely be put to death; they have committed perversion {tevel: forbidden sexual act}, and their blood {dmeihem: legal liability} shall be upon them.
13 And a man who lies {yishkav: lie down intimately} with a male as with a woman has committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death, and their blood {dameihem: personal guilt} is upon them.
14 And a man who takes a woman and her mother commits depravity {zimmah: a morally corrupt act}; with fire they shall burn him and them, so that such depravity will not be among you {betokhekhem: within your community}.
15 And any man who lies with {shekhavto: carnal union} an animal must be put to death {mot yumat: death penalty}, and you must kill the animal.
16 And a woman who approaches any animal for mating {lerivah: for copulation} with it shall be killed—both the woman and the animal. They shall surely be put to death; their blood {demeihem: forensic guilt} is on them.
17 If a man takes his sister, whether his father’s daughter or his mother’s daughter, and he sees her nakedness and she sees his nakedness, it is a disgrace {chesed: kinship violation}. They shall be cut off {venikretu: communal exclusion} in the sight of the sons of their people; for he has uncovered his sister’s nakedness, and he shall bear his iniquity.
18 And if a man lies with a woman who is menstruating{davah: ritual impurity}, and he uncovers her nakedness, he has exposed her source{mekor: bodily discharge}, and she has uncovered the source of her blood. Both of them shall be cut off from among their people.
19 You shall not uncover the nakedness {ervah: sexual taboo} of your mother’s sister or your father’s sister, for that is to uncover one’s close relative; they shall bear their iniquity {avon: moral guilt}.
20 If a man lies with his uncle’s wife, he has uncovered his uncle’s nakedness{gillah: sexual violation}. They shall bear their sin{chetam: moral liability}. They shall die childless.
21 And if a man takes his brother’s wife, it is impurity {niddah: cultic defilement}; he has uncovered his brother’s nakedness {ervat: intimate exposure}. They will be childless.
22 So you shall keep all my statutes {chukotai: enduring decrees} and all my judgments {mishpatai: righteous verdicts}, and you shall do them, so that the land will not vomit you out when I {YHWH, Covenant Upholder} bring you there to live.
23 And you shall not walk in the statutes {chukot: divinely appointed laws} of the nation which I {YHWH, Divine Judge} am driving out from before you, because they did all these things, and I abhorred them.
24 But I said to you, "You will inherit {tirshu: covenant inheritance} their land, and I will give it to you to possess—a land flowing with milk and honey. I am the LORD your God {YHWH Eloheikhem, Covenant Giver}, who has set you apart from the nations."
25 And you shall separate between the clean animal and the unclean, and between the unclean bird and the clean. And you shall not make your souls {nafesh: life essence} detestable by any animal or by any bird or by anything that crawls on the ground, those which I {YHWH, Ritual Divider} have set apart for you for uncleanness.
26 And you shall be holy to Me, for I, the LORD {YHWH, Sanctifier}, am holy; and I have set you apart {avdil: set apart} from the nations, to be Mine.
27 Any man or woman who is a medium {ov: necromancer} or a spiritist shall surely be put to death; with stones they shall stone them; their blood {demeihem: legal liability} is upon them.
