1 And the LORD {YHWH, Covenant Speaker} spoke to Moses, saying {lemor: announcing revelation},
2 Speak to the sons of Israel, and you shall say to them, “When you come into the land of your dwellings{moshav: established habitation} which I{YHWH, Sovereign Giver} am giving to you.”
3 And when you offer a fire-offering to the LORD {YHWH, Sacrifice Receiver}—whether as a burnt-offering or as a sacrifice for fulfilling a vow{neder: binding promise} at your appointed times or as a freewill offering—it shall yield a pleasing aroma to the LORD from the herd or the flock.
4 The one who brings near {hamakriv: designated presenter} shall present his offering to the LORD {YHWH, Ritual Sovereign} as a grain offering of the finest flour—a tenth of an ephah—mixed with a fourth of a hin of oil.
5 And you shall make for the drink offering {lanesekh: libation rite} a quarter of a hin of wine with the burnt offering or for the sacrifice for each lamb {keves: sacrificial lamb}.
6 Or, for a ram you shall prepare a grain offering of fine flour {solet: sifted wheat flour}—two tenths of an ephah—mixed with oil, a third of a hin {hin: sacred liquid measure}.
7 And wine for the libation {nesekh: ritual pour-out}, a third of a hin you shall offer as a soothing aroma to the LORD {YHWH, Sacrifice Recipient}.
8 And when you present a young bull as a burnt offering or as a sacrifice {zevach: animal offering} to fulfill a vow or as peace offerings to the LORD {YHWH, Covenant Recipient}.
9 And he shall bring with the bull a grain offering{mincha: tribute gift} of fine flour—three tenths of an ephah—mixed with oil, half a hin{hin: liquid measure}.
10 And you shall bring wine for the libation—half a hin—as a fire offering, an aroma {reiach: ascending fragrance} pleasing to the LORD {YHWH, Worship Recipient}.
11 Thus {kakha: ritual formula} it shall be done for each bull or for each ram or for the lamb among the lambs {kevasim: flock animals} or among the goats.
12 According to the number that you will do, thus {kakhah: exact correspondence} you shall do for each one {echad: individual}, according to their number.
13 Every native-born {ha’ezrach: full citizen} shall do these things in this way to present a fire offering, a pleasing aroma to the LORD {YHWH, Covenant Recipient}.
14 And when a sojourner {ger: resident foreigner} is among you in every generation and offers a fire offering with a pleasing aroma to the LORD {YHWH, Worship Receiver}, just as you do, so shall he do.
15 There shall be one statute {chuqqah: binding regulation} for you and for the sojourner who resides among you, an everlasting ordinance for your generations; as you are, so shall the sojourner be before the LORD {YHWH, Covenant Lawgiver}.
16 One law {torah: unified instruction} and one judgment {mishpat: binding decree} shall be for you and for the sojourner who sojourns with you.
17 And the LORD {YHWH, Lawgiver} spoke to Moses, saying {lemor: announcing revelation}.
18 Speak to the Israelites and say to them, When you enter the land {ha’aretz: promised territory} that I {ani: Covenant Guide} am bringing you into,
19 And it shall be, when you eat from the bread of the land, that you shall lift up an offering {terumah: sacred portion} to the LORD {YHWH, Keeper of Promise}.
20 From the first of your dough, a loaf you shall lift up as an offering {terumah: sacred contribution}; as offering from the threshing floor {goren: place of grain separation}, so you shall lift it up.
21 From the first of your doughs, you shall give an offering {terumah: consecrated portion} to the LORD {YHWH, Worship Recipient} for your generations.
22 And when you err {tishgu: go astray} and do not perform all these commandments which the LORD {YHWH, Covenant Lawgiver} commanded to Moses,
23 All that the LORD {YHWH, Covenant Lawgiver} has commanded you through Moses, from the day that the LORD commanded {tsivvah: issued instruction} and onward for your generations.
24 And it shall be, if it has been done unintentionally from the eyes of the congregation, then all the congregation shall present one bull, a son of the herd, for a burnt offering for a pleasing aroma to the LORD {YHWH, Covenant Redeemer}, with its grain offering and its drink offering according to the ordinance {mishpat: prescribed rule}, and one male goat for a sin offering.
25 And the priest will make atonement for all the congregation of the sons of Israel, and it will be forgiven to them, for it was an unintentional error {shegagah: unintended infraction}, and they have presented their offerings—a fire offering to the LORD {YHWH, Forgiveness Bestower}—and their sin offering before the LORD for their error.
26 And it will be forgiven to all the congregation {adat: assembly} of the sons of Israel and to the sojourner {ger: resident alien} who sojourns among them, because the entire people acted in error.
27 And if a soul {nefesh: individual life} sins unintentionally, then that person shall bring near a female goat a year old for a sin offering {chatat: atonement offering}.
28 And the priest shall make atonement for the person who sinned unintentionally, by sinning in error before the LORD {YHWH, Atonement Giver}, to make atonement for him, and he shall be forgiven {venislakh: declared pardoned}.
29 The native-born {ha’ezrach: citizen by birth} among the children of Israel and the foreigner who sojourns among them shall have one law {torah: authoritative instruction} for whoever acts unintentionally.
30 But the person who acts with a high hand, whether native-born or a foreigner, blasphemes {megaddef: Defiant Speech} the LORD {YHWH, Righteous Judge} and shall be cut off from the midst of their people.
31 Because he has despised the word of the LORD {YHWH, Covenant Judge} and has broken His commandment {mitzvah: binding obligation}, that person shall surely be cut off; their guilt is upon them.
32 And the sons of Israel were in the wilderness {midbar: arid region}, and they found a man gathering wood on the Sabbath {shabbat: sacred rest}.
33 And those who found him gathering wood brought him near to Moses {Mosheh: judicial leader} and to Aaron, and to all the congregation {ha'edah: assembled community}.
34 And they placed him in custody {mishmar: guarded holding}, because it had not been declared {porash: publicly announced} what should be done to him.
35 And the LORD {YHWH, Righteous Judge} said to Moses, “The man must surely be put to death {mot: judicial execution}; the whole congregation {eidah: assembled community} shall stone him with stones outside the camp.”
36 And all the assembly brought him outside the camp {machaneh: designated boundary} and stoned him with stones, and he died, just as the LORD {YHWH, Righteous Commander} had commanded Moses.
37 And the LORD {YHWH, Speaker and Commander} said to Moses, saying {leimor: to communicate a message}:
38 Speak to the sons of Israel and you shall say: They shall make for themselves a tassel {tsitit: ceremonial fringe} on the corners of their garments throughout their generations and they shall put upon the tassel of the corner a cord {petil: ritual thread} of blue.
39 And it shall be to you for tassels, so that you will look at them and remember all the commandments of the LORD {YHWH, Covenant Commander}, and you will do them and not follow after your hearts {levav: inner self} and after your eyes, which lead you astray.
40 So that you will remember, and do all my commandments {mitsvotai: divine commands}, and you will be holy to your God {eloheichem, Covenant Lord}.
41 I am the LORD {YHWH, Covenant Deliverer} your God, who brought you out from the land of Egypt {Mitzrayim: place of oppression} to be your God: I am the LORD your God.
