Therefore, since we have been declared righteous through faith, we now enjoy peace with God {Theos, Source of Peace} through our Lord Jesus Christ {Kyrios Iesous Christos, Saving Mediator}.
Through whom we have also been ushered in {prosagoge: welcomed entrance} by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we speak with joy of the hope of God’s glory {Theos, Promised Glory-Giver}.
And more than that, we also boast in our tribulations {thlipsis: pressures that squeeze}, because we know that tribulation brings about endurance {hypomone: steadfast patience}.
And endurance {hypomone: steadfast perseverance} results in proven character {dokime: tested maturity}, and proven character results in hope.
But hope does not disgrace us, because the love of God {Theos, Overflowing Love Giver} has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit {pneuma hagion, Indwelling Presence} who has been given to us.
For while we were still weak, at the appointed time Christ {Khristos, Sacrificial Savior} died for the ungodly {asebōn: those without reverence}.
For hardly will anyone die for a righteous person {dikaiou: just person}; though for a good person {agathou: morally excellent}, perhaps someone might even dare to die.
But God {Theos, Gracious Initiator} proves His own love toward us by this: while we were still sinners {hamartolon: those missing-mark}, Christ died for us.
Much more then, since we have now been justified by His {Christos, Atoning Redeemer} blood, we shall be saved through Him from the wrath {orge: righteous anger}.
For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God {Theos, Reconciling God} through the death of His Son {huios, Sacrificial Son}, much more, having been reconciled, we will be saved by His life.
And not only this, but we also rejoice in God {Theos, Gracious Reconciler} through our Lord Jesus Christ {Kyrios Iesous Christos, Mediator of Peace}, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.
Therefore, just as through one man {anthropos: representative human} sin {hamartia: missing God’s standard} entered the world, and through sin came death, so death spread to all people because all sinned.
For sin was in the world {kosmos: human sphere} before the law, but sin is not counted {ellogeitai: legally recorded} when there is no law.
Nevertheless, death {thanatos: Ruling Power} reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned in the likeness of Adam’s transgression {parabasis: Boundary Breaking}; Adam is a type of the one to come.
But the gift is not like the trespass. For if by the trespass of the one man the many died, much more did the grace of God {Theos, Overflowing Grace Giver} and the gift in the grace of the one man Jesus Christ {Iesous Christou, Life-Giving Mediator} overflow to the many.
And the gift {dorema: undeserved favor} is not like what came through the one who sinned; for the judgment from one offense resulted in condemnation, but the gracious gift from many trespasses results in justification {dikaioma: declared righteous}.
For if death reigned through the trespass of the one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace {charis: unearned favor} and the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, Jesus Christ {Iesous Christos, Saving Messiah}.
Therefore then, just as through one person’s trespass {paraptoma: single decisive offense} condemnation resulted for all people, so also through one person’s righteous act {dikaioma: saving obedient deed} justification of life resulted for all people.
For just as through the disobedience {parakoe: refusal to heed} of one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of one man the many will be made righteous {dikaioi: counted just}.
Now the law {nomos: covenant law} came in so that the trespass {paraptōma: specific violation} might increase; but where sin multiplied, grace overflowed all the more.
In order that just as sin ruled in death, so also grace might rule through righteousness {dikaiosynes: God-given right standing} to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord {Iesous Christos Kyrios, Reigning Savior}.
