1 And it came to pass on the eighth day that Moses {Moshe: chosen leader} summoned Aaron, his sons, and the elders {zeknei: community leaders} of Israel.
2 And Moses said to Aaron, “Take for yourself a calf from the herd for a sin offering{chatat: purification sacrifice}, and a ram for a burnt offering, both blameless, and present them before the LORD{YHWH, Worship Recipient}.”
3 And to the sons of Israel you shall speak, saying, “Take a male goat {seir-izzim: young male goat} for a sin offering, and take also a calf and a lamb, both a year old and without blemish {temimim: without defect}, for a burnt offering.”
4 Also bring an ox and a ram as fellowship offerings to sacrifice before the LORD {YHWH, Worship Recipient}, and a grain offering mixed {belulah: blended offering} with oil, for today the LORD will appear to you.
5 So they brought what Moses had commanded to the front {penei: face, presence} of the tent of meeting, and the whole assembly drew near and stood before the LORD {YHWH, Worship Receiver}.
6 And Moses said, “This is the thing which the LORD {YHWH, Command Giver} has commanded you to do, and the glory {kevod: manifest presence} of the LORD will appear to you.”
7 And Moses said to Aaron, “Come near to the altar and offer your sin offering and your burnt offering, and make atonement for yourself and for the people; then present the people’s offering and make atonement for them, just as the LORD {YHWH, Covenant Commander} has commanded {tsivvah: divine instruction}.”
8 And Aaron approached the altar {mizbeach: place of sacrifice} and slaughtered the calf, the sin offering {chatat: purification sacrifice} that was for himself.
9 And the sons of Aaron brought the blood to him, and he dipped his finger in the blood and placed it on the horns of the altar; then he poured the remaining blood at the base {yesod: foundation structure} of the altar {mizbeach: place of sacrifice}.
10 And he burned on the altar the fat, the kidneys, and the lobe from the liver of the sin offering, just as the LORD {YHWH, Worship Lawgiver} had commanded Moses {Mosheh: chosen leader}.
11 And the flesh and the hide he burned {saraf: ritually consumed} with fire outside the camp {machaneh: encampment area}.
12 And he slaughtered the burnt offering, and the sons of Aaron {beney Aharon: priestly lineage} presented the blood to him; he splashed it {yizrekhehu: scattered forcefully} all around the altar.
13 And they presented the burnt offering {olah: ascending sacrifice} to him piece by piece, together with the head, and he burned them on the altar {mizbeach: place of sacrifice}.
14 And he washed the inner parts {qerev: entrails} and the legs, and he offered them up in smoke upon the burnt offering {olah: ascent sacrifice} on the altar.
15 And he brought near the people’s offering {korban: approach gift}, and he took the male goat {seir: sacrificial animal} for the people’s sin offering, slaughtered it, and offered it as a sin offering in the same manner as the first.
16 And he brought the burnt offering near {olah: ascending offering} and offered it according to the ordinance {mishpat: prescribed regulation}.
17 And he brought near the grain offering {minchah: tribute gift}, and he filled his hand from it and burned it on the altar beside the morning burnt offering {olah: ascending sacrifice}.
18 Then he slaughtered the ox and the ram as the sacrifice {zevach: ritual sacrifice} of the peace offerings for the people, and the sons of Aaron presented the blood to him, and he dashed it upon the altar {mizbeach: place of offering} all around.
19 And they took the fat portions {chalavim: sacrificial fats} from the ox and from the ram: the fat tail, the covering {mekhaseh: fat layer}, the kidneys, and the lobe of the liver.
20 And they placed the fat portions {ha-chalavim: sacrificial fats} on the breasts, and he burned the fat portions on the altar {mizbecha: place of offering}.
21 And Aaron waved the breasts and the right thigh as a wave offering before the LORD {YHWH, Worship Receiver}, just as Moses {Mosheh: mediator} commanded.
22 Then Aaron lifted {nasa: ceremonial elevation} his hands toward the people and blessed them. And he came down after offering the sin offering, the burnt offering, and the peace offerings {shelemim: communal sacrifices}.
23 Moses and Aaron entered the tent of meeting; when they came out, they blessed the people. Then the glory of the LORD {YHWH, Divine Presence Revealer} appeared to all the people {ha-am: covenant community}.
24 And fire went out from before the LORD {YHWH, Consuming Presence} and consumed the burnt offering {olah: ascending sacrifice} and the fat portions on the altar; all the people saw, and they shouted and fell on their faces.
