1 The LORD {YHWH, Covenant Revelator} spoke to Moses, saying {leymor: formal divine communication formula},
2 Take Aaron {Aharon: priestly line} and his sons with him, and the garments, and the anointing oil {shemen: sacred ointment}, and the bull of the sin offering, and the two rams, and the basket of unleavened breads.
3 And gather all the assembly {haedah: full congregation} to the entrance of the tent of meeting {ohel moed: appointed gathering place}.
4 Moses did just as {ka’asher: exactly according to instruction} the LORD {YHWH, Covenant Commander} commanded him, and the assembly was gathered at the entrance to the tent of meeting.
5 And Moses said to the assembly, “This is the matter which the LORD {YHWH, Command Giver} has commanded to do {la’asot: perform in obedience}.”
6 Moses brought Aaron {Aharon: Priest Elect} and his sons {banav: Priestly Family} forward, and he washed them with the water.
7 And he put the tunic on him and girded him with the sash {avnet: priestly sash}, and he clothed him with the robe, and he put the ephod on him and girded him with the waistband {cheshev: ceremonial band} of the ephod, and he bound it for him with it.
8 And he placed the breastpiece on him and set within the breastpiece the Urim {haurim: revealing lots} and the Thummim {hatummim: perfect tokens}.
9 And he placed the turban on his head and set on the front of the turban the golden plate—the holy crown {nezer: consecrated symbol}—as the LORD {YHWH, Divine Commander} commanded Moses.
10 And Moses took the oil of anointing and anointed the tabernacle {mishkan: Portable Sanctuary} and all that was in it, and consecrated {vayekadesh: Holy Separation} them.
11 And he sprinkled some of it {mimmennu: from the anointing oil} upon the altar seven times, and he anointed the altar and all its utensils and the basin and its stand to consecrate {le-kaddesham: make set apart as holy} them.
12 And he poured from the anointing oil {mishchah: sacred purification oil} upon the head of Aaron, and he anointed him to consecrate {kadesh: set apart for holy service} him.
13 Then Moses brought forward the sons of Aaron and clothed them with tunics {kutanot: priestly garments}, girded them with a sash, and placed caps on them, just as the LORD {YHWH, Command Giver} had commanded Moses.
14 And he brought near {vayyaggēsh: ceremonial approach} the bull for the sin offering {chatat: purification sacrifice}, and Aaron and his sons placed their hands on the head of the bull.
15 Moses {Mosheh: drawn out} slaughtered the bull and took the blood and applied it to the horns of the altar {mizbeach: place of sacrifice} all around with his finger; he purified the altar, poured the blood at its base, and consecrated it to make atonement for it.
16 And Moses took all the fat {chelev: reserved portion} that rested on the inner parts, the long lobe of the liver, and the two kidneys with their fat, and offered it up as smoke on the altar {mizbeach: sacrificial platform}.
17 And the bull {par: purification offering}, with its hide, its flesh, and its dung, he burned with fire outside the camp, as the LORD {YHWH, Covenant Commander} had commanded Moses.
18 And he brought forward the ram of the burnt offering {olah: ascending sacrifice}, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands {yad: physical agency} upon the head of the ram.
19 And he slaughtered it, and Moses {mosheh: priestly mediator} splashed the blood upon the altar {mizbeach: sacrificial platform} all around.
20 And he cut the ram {ha’ayil: sacrificial animal} into its pieces, and Moses offered up in smoke the head, the pieces, and the fat {pader: fatty covering}.
21 He washed the inner parts and the legs with water, and Moses burned the entire ram on the altar as a burnt offering; it was for a pleasing aroma {reach: fragrant scent}, a fire offering to the LORD {YHWH, Worship Receiver}, just as the LORD commanded Moses.
22 And he brought near the second ram, the ram of ordination {millu’im: installation ceremony}, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands {yad: identifying touch} upon its head.
23 And he slaughtered {vayishchat: ritual sacrifice}, and Moses took from its blood {dam: life-fluid}, and he put it on the lobe of Aaron’s right ear and on the thumb of his right hand and on the big toe of his right foot.
24 And he brought forward the sons of Aaron, and Moses put some of the blood on the lobe {tenukh: ear lobe/tip} of their right ear, on the thumb of their right hand, and on the big toe of their right foot; then he splashed the blood on the altar {mizbeach: sacrificial platform} all around.
25 And he took the fat, and the fat tail, and all the fat that was upon the entrails, and the lobe of the liver {yoteret ha-kaved: liver lobe}, and the two kidneys and their fat, and the right thigh {shok ha-yamin: side portion}.
26 And from the basket of unleavened breads, which was before the LORD {YHWH, Worship Receiver}, he took one unleavened loaf {matsah: bread without yeast}, one loaf of bread mixed with oil, and one wafer, and he placed them on the fat portions and on the right thigh.
27 And he placed all these {hakol: every element} on the hands of Aaron and on the hands of his sons, and he waved them as a wave offering {tenuphah: lifted tribute} before the LORD {YHWH, Divine Recipient}.
28 And Moses took them from their hands and offered them on the altar upon the burnt offering; they are ordination offerings {millu'im: priestly installation}, for a pleasing fragrance, a fire offering—it is to the LORD {YHWH, Accepts Offering}.
29 Moses took the breast {hekhazeh: breast portion}, and he waved it as a wave-offering before the LORD {YHWH, Ritual Authority}. From the ordination ram it was assigned to Moses, just as the LORD commanded Moses.
30 And Moses took some of the anointing oil {mishchah: consecration substance} and some of the blood that was on the altar, and he sprinkled them on Aaron, on his garments, and on his sons and on the garments of his sons with him; then he consecrated Aaron {Aharon: set-apart priest} and his garments, and his sons and the garments of his sons with him.
31 And Moses {Mosheh: Lawgiver} said to Aaron and to his sons, “Boil the meat {bashar: sacrificial portion} at the entrance of the tent of meeting, and there you shall eat it and the bread which is in the basket of ordinations, as I {YHWH, Sovereign Commander} commanded, saying, ‘Aaron and his sons shall eat it.’”
32 And the remainder {hanotar: what is left over} of the meat and of the bread you shall burn in the fire {ba'esh: consuming flame}.
33 And from the entrance of the tent of meeting, you shall not go out for seven days, until the day of completion of the days of your ordination {millueikhem: consecration ceremony}, for seven days He will fill your hands {yedkhem: priestly authority}.
34 Just as He has done on this day, the LORD {YHWH, Authoritative Commander} has commanded to do and to make atonement {kapper: ritual covering of sin} for you.
35 And at the entrance of the tent of meeting you shall dwell day and night for seven days, and you shall keep the charge of the LORD {YHWH, Covenant Commander}, so that you do not die; for thus I have been commanded {tsuveiti: divinely directed}.
36 And Aaron and his sons did all the things which the LORD {YHWH, Command-Giver} had commanded by the hand of Moses {Mosheh: appointed leader}.
