Leviticus 27TAB

And the LORD {YHWH, Supreme Speaker} spoke to Moses, saying {leʾemor: speech introduction},

Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, “If a man makes a special vow {neder: sacred pledge} according to your valuation of persons, for the LORD {YHWH, Covenant Recipient}.”

And your valuation {erkekha: fixed legal price} shall be for the male aged twenty up to sixty years; your valuation shall be fifty silver shekels by the sanctuary shekel {hakodesh: cultic standard}.

But if it is a female, then your valuation {erkekha: assigned worth} shall be thirty shekels {sheqel: weight unit}.

And if {im: conditional clause} someone is from five years old up to twenty years old, then your valuation {erkecha: cultic assessment} shall be twenty shekels for the male and ten shekels for the female.

And if a person is from one month old up to five years old, then your valuation {erekekh: assessed value} for the male shall be five shekels of silver {kasef: precious metal}, and for the female your valuation shall be three shekels of silver.

And if from the age of sixty years and upward a male, your valuation shall be fifteen shekels{shaqel: standard silver unit} and for a female{nekevah: female category}, ten shekels.

But if he is too poor for your valuation {erekh: prescribed amount}, he shall be made to stand before the priest, and the priest shall value him. According to what the hand {yad: capacity indicator} of the one vowing can attain, the priest shall value him.

And if it is an animal {behemah: living creature} which they offer to the LORD {YHWH, Sanctifier}, all that he gives from it to the LORD shall be holy.

He must not exchange it nor substitute {hamer: emphatic substitution} it, good for bad or bad for good; and if he does indeed substitute an animal for an animal, both it and its substitute shall be holy {qodesh: set apart for God}.

And if any animal is unclean—one which they do not bring as an offering to the LORD {YHWH, Worship Recipient}—then he shall present the animal before the priest {kohen: consecrated servant}.

And the priest {kohen: authorized mediator} shall appraise it, whether it is good or bad; according to your valuation {erek: assigned worth}, O priest, so shall it be.

And if he redeems it, then he shall add a fifth {chamishit: one out of five parts} of its value upon your valuation {erkekha: assessed worth}.

If a man dedicates his house as holy to the LORD {YHWH, Object of Consecration}, the priest {kohen: ordained mediator} shall set its value, whether it is good or bad. Just as the priest sets its value, so shall it stand.

And if he who consecrates {ha-makdish: one setting apart as holy} redeems his house, he shall add a fifth {chamishit: twenty percent} of the silver of your valuation upon it, and it shall belong to him.

And if a man dedicates part of his inherited field to the LORD {YHWH, Recipient of Offerings}, then your valuation {‘erek: assigned value} shall be according to its seed, namely a chomer of barley seed, valued at fifty shekels of silver.

If he dedicates his field from the year of the Jubilee, according to your valuation {erekh: assessed worth}, it will stand {yakum: be established}.

And if after the Jubilee he dedicates {yakdish: legally sets apart} his field, the priest shall calculate the silver according to the years that remain until the Jubilee, and it shall be deducted from your valuation {erekh: assigned worth}.

And if the one who has dedicated the field redeems it, then he shall add a fifth of the silver {kesef: money value} of your valuation upon it, and it shall stand {kam: be restored} for him.

And if he does not redeem {g’al: kinsman redemption} the field, and if he has sold the field to another man, it shall not be redeemed again {od: permanent exclusion}.

And the field, when it is released in the Jubilee, shall be holy to the LORD{YHWH, Consecration Receiver}, like a field wholly dedicated{cherem: devoted for sacred use}; it shall belong to the priest as his possession.

And if someone dedicates to the LORD {YHWH, Divine Landowner} a field of his purchase {miknah: acquired property} that is not from the field of his inheritance.

And the priest {kohen: consecrated official} shall calculate for him the sum of your valuation up to the year of the Jubilee, and he shall give your valuation on that day as a holy thing to the LORD {YHWH, Sanctifier}.

In the year of Jubilee {yovel: periodic reset}, the field will return to the one from whom it was bought, to the one to whom the possession {achuzat: perpetual inheritance} of the land belongs.

All your valuations shall be according to the shekel of the sanctuary {kodesh: consecrated standard}; twenty gerahs shall be the shekel {shekel: weight measurement}.

However, the firstborn {bekhor: privileged by birth order} to the LORD {YHWH, Owner of all life} among animals must not be dedicated. Whether it is an ox or a sheep, it belongs to the LORD.

And if the animal is unclean, and he redeems it at your valuation, then he must add a fifth {ḥamištô: additional twenty percent} to it; but if it is not redeemed, then it shall be sold at your valuation {erḵêkā: assessed worth}.

Nevertheless, every devoted thing {cherem: irrevocably dedicated} that a person devotes to the LORD {YHWH, Sovereign Recipient} from all that is his, whether of a person, an animal, or a field of his possession, shall not be sold and shall not be redeemed; every devoted thing is most holy to the LORD.

Every person under the ban {cherem: irrevocably devoted} from among humans shall not be ransomed; he must surely be put to death {mot: final penalty}.

And every tithe {ma’asar: tenth portion} of the land, from the seed of the land or from the fruit of the tree, belongs to the LORD {YHWH, Sacred Owner}; it is holy to the LORD.

And if a man redeems {ga’ol: legal redemption} any part of his tithe, he must add its fifth part {hamishit: one-fifth portion} to it.

And every tithe {maʿasar: tenth portion} of cattle and flock—every one that passes under the rod, the tenth one—shall be holy to the LORD {YHWH, Possession Sanctifier}.

He must not distinguish between good {tov: quality evaluation} and bad, and he must not substitute it {yemirennu: deliberate replacement}. But if he does substitute it, both it and its substitute shall be holy; they shall not be redeemed.

These are the commandments which the LORD {YHWH, Covenant Lawgiver} imparted through Moses to the children of Israel at Mount Sinai {sinai: divine meeting place}.
