1 And they brought the ark of God {Elohim, Divine Presence} and set it inside the tent that David had pitched for it. Then they offered burnt offerings {olot: ascending sacrifices} and peace offerings before God.
2 When David finished offering the burnt offering and the peace offerings {shelamim: fellowship sacrifices}, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD {YHWH, Blessing Source}.
3 And he distributed to every man of Israel, from man even to woman, to each a loaf of bread, a portion {eshpar: serving of meat for the feast}, and a raisin cake {ashishah: pressed fruit cake}.
4 And he appointed ministers from among the Levites before the ark of the LORD {YHWH, Divine Presence}, to make remembrance, to give thanks, and to praise the LORD, the God of Israel {Elohei Yisrael, Covenant Protector}.
5 Asaph was the chief {rosh: leader}, and his second was Zechariah; Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-Edom, and Jeiel played the lyres and the harps, and Asaph sounded the cymbals {mtziltayim: bronze percussion}.
6 And Benaiah and Jahaziel, the priests, with the trumpets {bachatzotzrot, Ceremonial Horns}, stood continually before the ark of the covenant of God {ha'elohim, Divine Presence}.
7 On that day David first entrusted {natan: give over} the leadership of this thanksgiving song to Asaph and his brothers so that they might give thanks to the LORD {YHWH, Praise Recipient}.
8 Give thanks to the LORD {YHWH, Worthy of Praise}; call on His name; make known among the peoples His deeds {alilah: mighty acts}.
9 Sing to Him {YHWH, Sovereign King}; sing praises to Him; speak of all His wondrous deeds {nifle'otav: miraculous works}.
10 Glory in His holy name; let the heart of those who seek the LORD {YHWH, Worship Recipient} rejoice {yismakh: inner gladness}.
11 Seek the LORD {YHWH, Covenant Companion} and His strength {oz: enduring power}; continually seek His face.
12 Remember His {YHWH, Sovereign Ruler} wonders that He has done, His miracles, and the judgments {mishpetei: authoritative decisions} of His mouth.
13 Offspring of Israel, His {YHWH, Covenant Shepherd} servant {avdo: devoted follower}, sons of Jacob, His chosen ones.
14 He is the LORD our God {YHWH Eloheinu, Our Universal Judge}; His judgments {mishpatav: legal verdicts} are in all the earth.
16 The covenant which He cut with Abraham {Avraham: father of a multitude}, and His oath to Isaac {Yitzchak: laughter}.
17 And He {YHWH, Covenant Confirmer} established it for Jacob as a statute, for Israel as an everlasting covenant {berit: binding promise}.
18 Saying, “To you I {YHWH, Land Giver} will give the land of Canaan as the portion {chevel: allotted territory} of your inheritance.”
19 When you were few in number {metei mispar: counted community}, few indeed, and sojourners {garim: resident aliens} in it.
20 And they wandered from nation{goy: ethnic group} to nation, and from one kingdom{mamlakhah: royal domain} to another people.
21 He {YHWH, Defender of the Vulnerable} did not allow any man to oppress them, and He rebuked kings {melakhim: sovereign rulers} for their sake.
22 Do not touch my {YHWH, Sovereign Protector} anointed ones {mshichai: divinely appointed}, and do not harm my prophets.
23 Sing to the LORD {YHWH, Sovereign Ruler}, all the earth {eretz: inhabited world}; proclaim from day to day His salvation.
24 Declare His{YHWH, Sovereign King} glory among the nations, and His wondrous acts{nifleotav: marvelous deeds} among all the peoples.
25 For the LORD {YHWH, Sovereign Ruler} is great and exceedingly worthy of praise {mehullal: celebrated with honor}; and He is awesome above all gods.
26 For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the LORD {YHWH, Universe Maker} made the heavens {shamayim: cosmic realms}.
27 Splendor and majesty are before Him {YHWH, Supreme King}; strength and joy are in His place {makom: sacred dwelling}.
28 Ascribe to the LORD {YHWH, Universal King}, you families of the peoples; ascribe to the LORD glory {kavod: honor} and strength.
29 Give to the LORD {YHWH, Worship Receiver} the glory of His name; bring an offering and come before Him; bow down to the LORD in the splendor {hadar: majestic beauty} of holiness.
30 Tremble before Him {YHWH, Universal Sovereign}, all the earth! Indeed, the world {tevel: inhabited realm} is firmly established; it shall not be shaken.
31 Let the heavens {shemaim: visible skies and cosmic realm} rejoice and let the earth be glad; and let them say among the nations, “The LORD {YHWH, Universal King} reigns!”
32 Let the sea roar {yiram: thunderous roar}, and its fullness; let the field exult {yaalots: bursting with joy}, and all that is in it.
33 Then the trees of the forest will sing for joy before the LORD {YHWH, Universal Judge}, for He comes to judge the earth {ha’aretz: all the land}.
34 Give thanks to the LORD {YHWH, Fountain of Goodness}, for He is good; for His steadfast love {chasdo: loyal kindness} is forever.
35 And say, “Save us, God of our salvation {Elohei yisheinu, Deliverer}, and gather us and deliver us from the nations, to give thanks to your holy name and to glory in your praise {tehillah: uplifting adoration}.”
36 Blessed be the LORD {YHWH, Eternal Praiseworthy One}, the God of Israel {Elohei Yisrael, National Redeemer}, from everlasting to everlasting. And all the people said, “Amen,” and gave praise to the LORD.
37 And he left Asaph and his brothers there before the ark of the covenant of the LORD {YHWH, Sovereign Guardian} to minister continually, according to the day’s ritual {yom: daily ritual}.
38 And Obed-Edom and his brothers, sixty-eight in all, and Obed-Edom the son of Jeduthun {yedhithun: Levitical musician} and Hosah were gatekeepers {sho’arim: those who guard the entrances}.
39 And Zadok the priest and his brothers, the priests, were before the tabernacle of the LORD {YHWH, Sanctuary Dweller} at the high place in Gibeon {Giv’on: significant worship site}.
40 To offer burnt offerings to the LORD {YHWH, Worship Recipient} on the altar of burnt offering continually {tamid: perpetual observance}, in the morning and in the evening, and to do all that is written in the law of the LORD, which He commanded for Israel.
41 And with them were Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest of those chosen {berurim: selected by discernment} who were designated by name to give thanks to the LORD {YHWH, Worship Recipient}, for His steadfast love endures forever.
42 With them were Heman and Jeduthun, with trumpets and cymbals to make a sound and instruments for the song of God {Elohim, Worship Receiver}. The sons of Jeduthun were at the gate {sha’ar: entrance post}.
43 And all the people {am: assembled crowd} went, each man to his house; and David returned {vayissov: turned back} to bless his house.
